Ooh, nasty - Samson ate a wasp the other day but it was already dead so I don't think it had any sting. I presume any allergic reaction would have been fairly quick - it is in humans. Keep an eye on the area where he was stung but hopefully he'll recover quickly. I wonder if he'll learn from it - being a Bengal, probably not

I am not sure I can tell where the stinger went in...so I can't see any stinger! Aren't they tiny? I wonder if he will get it out himself because I can't imagine finding it never mind extracting it!

I am not seeing any big reaction so I think he isn't going to have one. But it does look a little swollen. I took some pictures of his paws.

I can see swelling on that furry part below his dew claw...What do you think?

I am sure he will be fine...he is out chasing more bugs so it can't hurt but I am checking him every so often to see if his paw gets bigger...

To be honest, I can't really tell from the pictures but you'll be able to judge better because you know him and can feel the paw. I don't think wasps leave a barb behind because they can sting multiple times, unlike a bee, so it's really just a case of letting the inflammation die down. Some people say you can put vinegar on a wasp sting to reduce the sting and I've read that you can give a cat half a Piriton tablet but personally I wouldn't do that without checking with a vet. If Ace is charging around as normal, then I'd wouldn't do anything except monitor him.

Linden has been stung by bees - twice. She catches them mid-air between her front paws - like she's clapping while jumping... Insane

Anyways, I digress... She suffered a reaction both times. The first time we were much slower getting her to the vet as we didn't realise it had happened. First she started limping. Then she got really sensitive to touch - she scream at me anytmie I tried to pat her, but she also didn't want me to put her down (she would crawl back into my arms). Then she started limping on the back legs (she was stung in front), and by the time we got to the vet it was like she was paralysed from the hips back. Still screaching anytime we touched her fur.

This happened within about 10 mins of the sting.

The vets dosed her up with antihistamine and pain relievers. Took about two days before she was back to normal.

The second time we saw her catch the bee, saw that it was a bee, saw her start limping where she'd caught it and had her at the vet within 5 mins. She'd just started getting screachy when we touched her, but didn't get any worse. One antihistamine shot and she was her normal self by the time we got home from the vet office (less than 5 min car ride).

I think if he was going to have a reaction, it probably would have happened pretty quickly. Never hurts to keep an eye on him, but he should be ok! And as always, take him to a vet if you're not sure.
