Hi all, just doing the final preparations for annabella to arrive, have gotten in some litter boxes that the breeder says she is used to using, also, she recommended getting a cat tree, prevent scratching furniture etc, just wondering is there one(or two lol)you would recommend?

Depends on your budget really. I managed to get one of the banana leaf ones on Ebay and I must say it's by far the best looking cat tree I've ever had and the cats love it. Rule of thumb is to go for one that's got a good, stable base (ie more than one pole to support the weight) and get one where the cat will be able to stretch fully to scratch (they're taller than you think when they're fully grown). Some cats like to sit on an open platform, others like to hide inside a den so if you can get a tree with both, that covers most options!

It totally boils down to what you are willing to spend.

We own about 12 ceiling cat trees which we bought from Zooplus (insanity, I love cat trees as much as cats I think!) but if I could do it all again I would have built a cool integral system made from heavy duty cardboard carpet rolls covered in carpet and carpeted shelves going up to ceiling height and round the room. We are currently adding to our huge cat jungle in this way and it looks soooo neat and tidy compared to freestanding trees on the floor. Most notably, if you are willing to DIY, you can potentially create a cat climbing system which spans an entire room for the cost of ONE commercially sold cat tree!

I'm hoping Louise will come along in a minute and post a link to the videos of her amazing DIY cat tree system on youtube.... Louise's system inspired ours. I am far from a DIY genius but I just pull on the boys' sleeves and they are all too happy to help.

Here are some of ours which we added rope to for extra fun! They were both purchased from Zooplus and are in the ceiling cat tree section. Bengals really appreciate height so I would bear that in mind when selecting a tree.

wow tooboo that looks AMAZING! we have quite big rooms in our house, and could take plenty of alteration to accomodate climbing frames etc, i guess we will have to work it out as we go along,Im quite happy to take my hand to DIY am fairly handy that way myself I was just thinking of like something for the short time while she is still quite small, (Im probably way off the mark its years since i had a young kitten and no doubt she will be climbing the walls as soon as i bring her home lol!) Im presuming, we have high cabinets and sideboards etc, i presume in time she will use these herself anyway?

Sounds cool! I will PM Louise and get her to join this thread as she is a bit of a cat climbing system genius.

Cats aren't super at climbing down though so we have provided a system where he can run up the pole and then onto the next floor and down the stairs.

Yep! by the time you bring your kitten home she will be getting up pretty high so I would start as you mean to continue and maybe get her a little one for her room while she is settling in.

The advantage of fixing it all to the wall is you loose no floor space, and the cats absolutely love climbing about on it.

I was a bit worried to start with when I made the first one because although Loula went on it Spike didn't seem too bothered.

But since Toshi has arrived all 3 of them are more energetic, even fatty spike runs up the verticals like a kitten! And when Toshi & Loula start in there they actually do bounce off the walls, they do a wall of death running along the wall and launching off to go round the corners.

If you have more than one cat try to plan things without dead ends, if they are chasing and come to a dead end then its game over or leap of death

I bought a cat tree/ cat condo on ebay. Both Fiona and Trent love it.

Here are a couple bad cell pics of it. Happy with service and quality. It cost $100 on ebay.

This cat tree has 7 sissel rope posts which both cats love scratching. I think its a good deterrant so they dont scratch carpets and furniture
