Ok, so some thoughts on this:
1. Sounds like he's having some digestive issues. That's something that you need to take action on. What have you tried so far? Has a vet seen him and commented on this? It could be any number of things, probably the most common of them would be a parasite or a food allergy.
2. So what is his feeding schedule and behavior like? How many times a day is he fed? Does he eat all he is given in these feedings immediately? Or does he eat some and come back later to finish? Is he eating his dry food? From what you said, I'm guessing that he simply isn't real thrilled by his dry food. If that's the case then you have two choices, either you feed him more of the wet food, and feed him at least 3x/day or so, or find a dry food that he likes a lot better.
3. It's impossible to say simply by his age and weight whether he is very overweight, very underweight, or anything in between. You have to look at his body shape to make that determination. If you posted a picture of him from above, so that we could see the contour of his body, we could probably comment more.
