Thanks LadyKay - It doesn't seem to be available in the UK?! I am feeding Purina One indoor biscuits, and have already gone over to mainly Purina wet food. It's much nicer than the Whiskas overall, and a better protein level.
Morgana has been enjoying the freedom of having a whole house to rampage round, and is certainly getting much fitter! She has gone from a portly 5.4kg (if the Blue Cross record was correct) to a much better 4.8kg, I hope to get another 100 - 200g off her over the next few months, then she will be perfect for her build. If she doesn't lose any more, though, that isn't an issue. What she weighs now is in the acceptable range for her size / age, she has a little bit of an extra fat layer over her ribs still..... just like her Mum!
She had her full vet check up yesterday, and the vet was VERY happy with her overall condition. Her teeth are clean and perfect, her heart shows no signs of any murmur, and her coat is perfect (the bald patches are growing back slowly from the spay checking!) She is not over-cleaning through stress, either, which is good. She howled and cried non-stop all the way there, and while in there she went between freezing and trying to escape. As soon as I put her back in the carry cage, she calmed down and coming home she relaxed completely in the car. When home, she charged off upstairs to the air raid shelter, then came straight back down for some food! I think she had been afraid she was being taken away again, but now she hopefully knows this is her HOME for life!
She is a bit of a nibbler, and has been trying to chew through the Da Bird wand, when playing, LOL! She will catch the feather, then walk up the wire to try and eat the wand! My feet have been getting Bengal'ed in bed, and the feathery chew stick I bought her has been hit a few times and left to one side! Zooplus sent me a fluorescent PINK toy for her (YUCK!) which is thankfully now hidden in her 'Air raid shelter' and out of my sight...
I am going to bed every night with a furry tornado in the bedroom, and the last few nights have woken up with a furry body stretched out beside me! She sleeps on her back with all four feet sticking up, and legs akimbo! I will try to get a photo, but the second I wake up, so does she. The window sills have become a firm favourite now that she is a bit more athletic, and the computer desk is fair game when I'm sat there.
There is a little voice appearing - When I have been out, she is very chatty on my return. I am offered the tummy freely now, and it's the first thing I see in the mornings! I get head buts and rubs, and am walked over if not quick enough out of bed in the morning. She has miaowed down the phone to my Grandson, but as yet nobody other than Mum has been round to see her. She is still very nervous of change or strangers, so visitors are banned or by strict appointment only - I still don't know what happened, but the fact that she still sometimes flinches or runs to hide under the bed when I go to stroke her leads me to the definite assumption she was badly mistreated and abused. That she comes into the kitchen for food, then runs out at the slightest noise before eating further reinforces that belief! It breaks my heart to think that this little girl should be so afraid of being loved.
I am so grateful that she has allowed me the contact we have so far, and hope that one day she can always have her tail held high, and not feel she has to slink from room to room. It will take time, but I have plenty of that, and all the love she wants. She is trusting me 2000% more than when I got her and it is not yet four weeks, so I guess that we will be OK. There is definitely a bond growing by the day...
Merlin will forever be my best boy, my SoulFurBaby, and Morgana is now my little girl. I shall love Merlin for Eternity, and I shall love Morgana just as much, in a different place in my heart. She is gradually adding her paw prints... day by day....
