There is an interesting documentary on Netflix called PET FOOleD. It's about the pet food industry. The focus is mainly on dog food, but includes cat food and raw vs. canned/ dry food. There is some good basic pet food information.

I don't want to find out how bad the food I buy for my cat is for him! It's the only thing he will eat.

I agree with you there Sherry, my 2 will only eat a certain brand and I would probably be horrified if I knew what went into it, so ignorance is bliss for me.

There are a lot of people asking about raw food for their cats and they debate this in the documentary so I think it could be useful to those asking about it in the forum. It doesn't take into account that many cats are finicky and like what they like. Now at 3 years old, my two suddenly started to refuse to eat this cat food or that cat food and there is some sort of game going on between them and who eats what. I try to balance it out so that they both are fed enough. Unfortunately the only raw they will eat are live lizards. I have tried for years with different options and they look at me like I have ruined their day by serving that "stuff." Still the only slam dunk is the food that costs $4.50 per can, uggh.

I lightly cook the organ meat from a chicken and cut it up and they will eat that. If I just put it raw on the plate...no way.
