I wrapped Piper up in a towel that was too small (obviously) as the little dickens worked her way out and scratched me something terrible. I am recovering right now with bandaids all over my one hand. I guess I will have to bundle her up in my huge bath towel like a burrito, huh? Any advice other than the burrito thing? Always grateful for any information.

Just my opinion, but attempting to wrap a towel or burrito-ing is a first class way to get scratched up. I would never attempt it unless absolutely necessary (like when Gaga is having a seizure). And while it might be kinda-possible now, when your bengals get big and strong... ouch! (looks down at the scars on my arms).

What most bengal owners do for nail clipping is to opportunistically clip a nail or two while they are snoozing/chilling. You probably won't get much more than 2 or 3 nails done at a time, but there won't be all the drama and unhappiness/trauma that results from trying to do the full monty.

Will do the trim while chilling thing. Anything beats the trauma we went through this morning.

I have never trimmed my benga's nails. The vet will usually do it while he's there, but the nails just sharpen back up again. They say if you get a kitten used to it, then you can continue to do it as an adult, but who wants that fight? They make "soft paws" that you can put on the cat. Or, take the cat to the vet and have them do it. Never declaw your cat. I saw today where a bengal who has been through four homes already is up for adoption to another home. Has all paws declawed and refuses to use a litter box. Is it any wonder? What is wrong with some people. That poor kitty! Anyway ..... you've discovered that kittens are smart and strong. If you want to do this yourself, you really need an extra pair of hands.

I had bought a groomer's bag for Oberon, because I never thought I would be able to hold him to trim his toenails like a normal cat. I jokingly called it a kitty straight jacket.

I have never used it. I ambushed him once while he was sleeping and used the technique I have used on may cats over the years.

I just get a firm hold on the cat, and repeat my mantra "I am the Mamma" while lovingly restraining them while clipping each claw one at a time. I find a towel just gets in the way.

Sometimes I can't finish all claws in one sitting, sometimes I can even manage the hind claws.
