My Rocky has pancreatic cancer

My 10 year old Rocky has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This diagnosis was just before Christmas, 2 months now. He has only vomited once or twice since then, just a couple of days ago he vomited blood. Otherwise he doesn't shows signs of being sick, other than his usual howling. How do I know if he is in pain?

I am so sorry to hear about your Rocky. Did the vet not mention giving Rocky any pain medication? The only way we know whether a cat is in pain is by the way the cat cries. It's usually a different type of cry when they are in pain and you can tell the cat is clearly in pain. I'm guessing you aren't doing any treatment for the cancer and there may not be any. Vomiting blood is a serious problem and you probably need to make sure the vet is aware of this. I know you are heart broken over this situation. Hopefully, Rocky is still energetic and eating and drinking and using the litter box okay. If any one of these stop -- then it may be time to consult with the vet. He is eating every treat, cooked chicken, cheese, occasional steak with gusto, slowed down some on his prescription wet food. I have both pain med and anti nausea meds, but with all the howling not sure if he is hurting yet. Guess he will give us definite signs :(
