Well, the results are in and I'm officially rid of the giardia (sister was positive but my cat never got tested, she had the awful symptoms though).

Luna has tested positive for Coronavirus, FECV (they assume Akio also have it as their mild diarrhea is the same).
I'm supposed to give them probiotics and high fat, fiber and protein rich food, and will be contacting the vet again tomorrow to hear what else can be done.
I seem to find very conflicting information on FECV - ranging from it being chronic to it can be cleared.
Regardless, I'd like to hear your thoughts and well, experiences, if you've had it among your cats.

I understand that I will need to contact the breeder, as it's highly likely Luna had it from the beginning. The breeder previously told me not to bother with testing, and just feed raw food for 3 months. Well I am glad I had her tested though it has cost me a lot of money. I went to another vet who took my concerns more seriously instead of constantly telling me how gorgeous my cats are. Only comment I got from him was how great Akio is in shape and muscle.

Akio, on the right (8 months) and Luna on the left (7 months)

It is great to hear from you again on the forum, but not so great to hear about the situation. Have you read the topics on here about the Coronavirus? I think the members who have had their cats diagnosed with this can help the most, so I would start there. I hate that you having to go through this -- and I know it is not fun for the kitty either.

I've been searching through the forum, reading posts and threads.

I know I need to contact the breeder, I just don't really know how to approach her.
Got an extra vet bill today for a test I had done earlier (they didn't tell me anything, didn't know what to do with the sample, didn't even know I wa supposed to come by with 1 sample - basically why I changed vet.) I'll have to call them tomorrow and ask them to send me the results so I can understand what they were looking for. (Most curious if they tested for Coronavirus then too, and if they did, why they didn't tell me anything but "she's clear of bacterial infection and Giardia. Try her on boiled chicken and our Virbac/Hill's/Royal Canin special food.")

Will update after tomorrow, hopefully I get some useful answers.

I am so sorry you're going through this. I know some members here have gone through this issue and posted about it. I have not, so I'm not going to be much help. You've had issues with Luna now since the beginning. The breeder needs to know about this. The best way is to just explain to her what you've gone through with Luna.

hello, i have a 5 year old bengal who has chronically lived with diarhea or loose stoos with gas and occassional mucous and blood since we adopted him 4 years ago and who also had digestive problems before then. he is otherwise in very good health, eats and drinks fine, and plays. we and the breeder had him tested for normal parasites, which were always negative, but had never had him tested for coronavirus. we recently got a new vet and due to a recent very bad bout has run a more complete series of blood work and stool testing and has diagnosed the following: pancreatic insufficience (not pancreatitis), plus bacterial infection, plus corona virus (not fip). we had always thought that he had intolerances to cereals/starch and fish oils because as soon as these were in any wet food or if managed to steel even a few pieces of kibble from our other cats, this started a diarhea crisis. when we stuck to a pure chicken, no starches, no-low fat diet, his stools never had blood or mucous, but also were never firm stools either. he will start an antiobiotoc treatment for the infection, enzymes for the pancreatic insufficiency, and a bout of diarsanyl to help sooth intestines and build up good flora. for those of you who do have bengals with digestive disorders and have been diagnosed with corona virus, i would also suggest looking at food intolerances and pancreatic insufficiencies.

i am nervous about the corona virus and how to manage it with my multi-cat household and seek any advice. My cats are generally indoor cats, although I have occassionally taken them in the backyard on leashes. I have two other bengals (same litter as one another, but different from the 5 year old mentioned above) from the same breeder with no signs of digestive problems - they have all lived together for the last 4 years sharing litter boxes, etc, so even if the virus did not come from the catterie, they all likely have it now - i will get them tested to confirm. any advice on what to do if they are all positive (but no fip) and what to do if one does show signs of fip in the future? I also have just adopted two selkirks before this diagnosis who are still in quarantine: a 6 month kitten and a 7 year old full bred retired female. I will also have them tested. I had intended on introducing them to the house and the bengals after a month, but now am very nervous about doing so, particularly if they are negative. any advice here? many many thanks!

Welcome to our forum. We do not have any medical specialists who currently post on this forum, so you are going to have to rely on fellow members who have dealt with this issue. There are topics here that you can read through -- some may be years old -- but you can read what others have gone through. It is especially difficult with multi-cat households to prevent something that may be contagious from spreading into an epidemic. Your obviously have a competent vet who is trying to help your baby's condition. That is your best source of information. Your vet should take the time to explain everything to you so you completely understand.

Sending good thoughts and {{{HUGS}}} your way.
