The incidence and prevalence of fleas on cats is unrelated to species. It is dependent on opportunity, that is the likelihood of fleas to be present in the cat's environment.

I used to live in Ontario Canada. Even my indoor cat got fleas from time to time.

Since living in the Utah desert, I have yet to see a flea. My dogs and cat have never had fleas.

My bengal doesn't have fleas but that is because I use a flea product on him. We have fleas in Tennessee as my DSH will get them if I don't treat him. All cats are different. Since fleas feed off blood, if the cat has blood that isn't tasty enough, they will jump off.
