Sorry, have to have a little brag...Gus had a great result at this show - Reserve Bengal Kitten under 7 months and 5th Best Kitten in group!
It's quite a big thing - in SA, there have really only been snows, marbles and silvers on the show ring in the last year or so. It's still quite a small breed here so the judges rarely award anything to a cat that's not brown spotted as they're just not used to seeing it. Interstate judges, I'm guessing, have seen a lot more variety within the breed and are much more confident in comparing snows and silvers to browns and marbles to spotteds, so we seem to have more success with them judging!
We entered Gus in this show (his second) at the same time as entering his first. To be honest, I nearly withdrew him after his reactions at the first show - he was happy to be handled by the judges, but he hissed and spat when he saw the other cats. I'm glad I didn't now! The first show was an open show whereas this one was a closed show, makes me think that the quieter hall helped him somewhat - nowhere near as much noise from either the drynoses or the cats! We also had a douyble cage for him, which gave him much more room to strech out and get comfy. Little snot refused to use his litter tray all day though - god forbid it's not a hooded tray
Unfortunately I don't have any photos from this show, but will pop some up shortly of the last show.
