Back from stud but calling

I've just collected my queen from stud and since I got her home she is calling slightly but being very friendly with the dog - rubbing him showing her back end. She was witnessed mating on Saturday but now I'm wondering if she took.

I thought once cats were pregnant they stopped showing signs of heat but then it has only been 3 days.

What are your thoughts?

No sometimes they can still call for a little while after mating. Just depends on the environment you bring them back to. Like if you have other cats or animals. As queens can continue to mate with multiple partners in one litter they can keep calling even after mating.

now you just have to wait for the pinking up! roll on 4 wks!

Thanks for your advice. We have already had one bengal who went to stud twice and didn't get pregnant. Surely I'm not that unlucky to have another one! I'm so impatient which doesn't help. Let's keep everything crossed.

One of my girls called for a few days after coming home but then stopped as my boys are neutered and used to stare at her like she as crazy bum in air!

I did have one girl call throughout pregnancy aswell.

Also cant you leave your cats there instead of going back and forth it can knock them out of call the breeders I have used have kept them for me to make sure they are mated then they come home after? Instead of guessing and more trips back & forth!

Yes I am and no the queen is definitely under no stress, she is just behaving exactly as she does when she's in call. Also she had literally been home 10 mins and was sticking her back side in the face of the dog lying on the mat (who coincidentally completely ignores her). There is no abnormal behaviour, she is eating, drinking, coming for fuss and calling rather a lot.

However as I sadi she was only witnessed mating on Saturday so could it be that the sperm has only just reached the egg to fertilise it?

I forgot to mention she has been at the stud for a week so there was not going back adn forth, only to take her and collect her.

I think the sperm will be there by now! :wink:

She should go off completely any day now. Look out for pinking up 3 weeks after she was mated, so start looking in about 2 weeks from now.....2 weeks from Sat/Sun/Mon should show something if she is pregnant.

I would wait for pinking, she probably is pregnant, but can still get pregnant with another Tom so make sure she doesn't get out. My girl went on to have 8 kittens even though she didn't act pregnant for ages.
