hi to everyone who writes in this forum. my name is alec, me and my wife have been in love with bengals for many years, but didnt have the oppertunity to own one till recently (last year 2008) due to commitments with other animals ie a fourteen year old ginger tom. we brought our first girl with showing in mind , weve been to a few tica shows and really enjoyed it. unfortunately our first girl had a tail fault the tip had factured and set wrong...
her showing days were over. we were very dissapionted. with several dissapiontments along the way we both came to realise that it is very difficult to find the right bengal for show. and that the most successful cats tended to be home bred, with the best of the litter to be kept.
Luckly our queen is of breeding quality so not all is lost. we then proceeded to look for a open stud, which came with its own problems.
our cat tended to get stressed being in the car for traveling, and would interfear with her calling cycle. so we were back to square 1.
and also its quite a mine field looking for a open stud of the right quality and someone we could trust. Some of the things we have seen when visiting places scares me even thing about. there are lots of halfwits and inconsiderate people out there that do not care about cats, they just want money. My advice for anyone looking for a stud please take the advice of someone thats knows. talk to people on here, do what i didnt....ask for help!
please be very careful.
take your time in any descisions you have to make, dont let your heart rule your head. her are some very good breeders out there but they can be hard to find. take your time.
In my search i finally found a boy that was what we consider show standard and the breeder was absolutly brilliant.
