I've been wanting to breed my female bengal since I got her as a kitten. I've researched many options on what/how I should go about breeding her. I was supposed to get a male bengal soonish but that kind of fell through. This may sound silly but can I find someone else with a male bengal around me that would be willing to breed their male bengal with my female, or is there some type of "sperm banks" for bengal breeding?

I hate to say this, but it sounds as if breeding is not something you should undertake. Is this to be one bengal litter and you spay or are you planning to continue breeding your female? Are you going to register the litter with TICA and sell purebred bengals -- IF you get a purebred stud? Is there a sperm bank for bengals? Are you kidding? The answer is NO! A good breeder is not going to just throw a stud your way. Who are you in the "breeding world?" Nobody! I suggest you read through the information here:

https://pawpeds.com/pawacademy/beginner ... ngalitter/

There is so much more involved -- and there can be more complications than you can ever imagine. A recent member posted that her pregnant female had her litter and she didn't even realize it until she found the dead kittens days later.

We encourage responsible breeding and that you have a female cat who was sold to you as a breeding cat -- not one that was sold as an unspayed female and the registration papers are being withheld until she is fixed. We do not support backyard breeding of bengals. I know you came here looking for advice, but you need to know what you're undertaking before you actually do it.

I understand where you are coming from. She is actually TICA registered. I know there is A LOT that goes into breeding. I have done hours upon hours of research about it. I know I'm a new breeder, but every breeder out there started somewhere. I am still in contact with the breeders that she came from. They know that I want to breed her, and I have her papers. They are completely okay with me breeding her and support me doing so. I am wanting her to have 2 or 3 litters hopefully. I just know that there are some breeders out there that will stud their male bangel out for some money and if they can have the first pick of the litter. That is what I was trying to find out. Is there any bangel breeders around that would be willing to stud out their male bengal to breed with my female bengal?

Anna, I'm not going to jump to conclusions as I plan to breed my kitten in time too... although I'm having second thoughts already.

My advice since you're registered with TICA is to have a mentor guide you through. That'd be a good starting point where you'll have guidance and advice all the way. Go to TICA website and register for a mentor.

My personal advice, is please please please make sure that the couple and litter are not caged but roaming freely in the house. It broke my heart to learn most breeders (even TICA breeders) think it's ok to cage cats for breeding. I don't care if it's a large cage. I believe cats should be freely roaming and interacting with their caregivers without bars.

As for having a temp stud, I read some do provide their studs in exchange for cash or one kitten from the litter. It may be a good choice to some who don't want to go through the trouble of having more than one adult cat in the house.

Personally, why I'm having second thoughts is because I'm worried about what if those who end up adopting the kittens are not up to the task? What if the kitten gets mistreated, abused, neglected, misunderstood, or hated as a result of her reactions to that?

Nevertheless, good luck...

HassaanAbdeen thank you so much for your response. I've heard of getting a mentor that has had breeding experience before. I wasn't sure though where I can sign up for a mentor. I will definitely look up mentoring on the TICA website. Do you know by chance if it costs to get a mentor? Also when you mentioned getting a temp stud do you know where I could find one? Do other breeders on the TICA website offer it there?

The best mentor is the breeder from which you got your little girl! But, many do not want the competition. There are so many bengal breeders now that many are going to Savannah's and other breeds that are not so common. I replied to your PM earlier today.

When I was a child, we bought a siamese from a breeder with the intent to show her and have a litter of kittens. My parents arranged for a stud through the breeder. We took Elizabeth back to the breeder's home where the stud was visiting for the mating to occur. Afterwards, we took Elizabeth home and later she had two kittens. One was given as stud fee and the other boy, Peter became our beloved pet for 18 years. I think my mother loved him more than her children!
