You are correct in assuming your cats are at least F5. SBT is at least F4. F4 x F4 = F5. So your cats are good.

Do you have a certified pedigree for your cat? Know that in my research in finding the F generations of cats, I have found mistakes. F3's that were given SBT status in a database. If you know the pedigreed name of your cat or the parents, I can research and see if I can find out the exact F generation of your cat.

I absolutely dread the thought of moving with my bengal and we would not be changing countries. It is so important that you make sure to have all the correct paperwork in place. Bengals were confiscated coming from the UK to the US by the US Fish and Wildlife because the paperwork was not done correctly. The owners are desperate to get the cats, but they are being denied. Breeding cats are often flown around the world and I think as long as it's done with all the t's crossed and the i' dotted, you are okay.

You might want to check with a breeder in the US that ships internationally and see all the requirements, especially to the UK. Or, check with a UK breeder and see what is required to bring in a cat from the US. With the internet, it's easy to find them and they always have a "contact us" button.

Are your cats microchipped? Do they have registration papers, not just pedigree papers? Make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

I just posted in your other topic. My database does not have your kitties, so getting a copy of their pedigree would really help me out and I can tell you exactly which generation your kitties are. If you read my post, I've posted excerpts from the law and comments from the director of Animal Control for King County. I'm thinking an F4 bengal hybrid is considered a domestic cat and allowed in Seattle.

The only thing I see with the pedigrees is the cat's parents that TICA claims are "unavailable." Thus, there is no way, based on the pedigree, to tell if the parents are ALCs (they are not). Here is the link to the pedigree of Kezmari Diwali Dancer that appears on both of your babies' pedigrees:

I don't know how much trouble you may have -- mainly because YOU will be accompanying your pets into the US, correct? You are not shipping them over separately. You will go through customs together and can answer any questions you may be asked. I believe as long as you have their documentation and the permit and paperwork required by the US Fish and Wildlife, you will probably be fine.

The issue I'm finding is that the requirements and permitting are complicated. The article I saw regarding these three bengals that have been confiscated states the documentation was fine, but the issue was with an EG cat in their pedigree that they had problems with. You know .. it may totally depend on the person in Seattle that will be greeting you when you land. And I honestly don't know what has gone on internally at the Fish and Wildlife -- such as a memo on bengals. I know you will be holding your breath until you can get them out of the airport and on their way to their new home. I truly hope all goes well for you. It seems they are "vetting" cats more closely than potential terrorists coming over to the US. Geez! Good luck.

Based on what I have heard about from hybrid owners, it is a very good idea to familiarize yourself with the local codes for the state and city where you and the cats will be residing. There is very little uniformity in how animals are regulated in the US, because it is left to the local jurisdictions. There have been cases where local activists have gotten some breeds suddenly classified as dangerous or prohibited, so we all need to stay on top of that and be ready to provide input as a citizen.

LadyKay, even the ordinances and laws are confusing and conflicting! You honestly need a lawyer to interpret them.
