You mentioned that there is a fee that you can pay and the cat will be yours. You don't consider this option at all?

You can also try to contact a breeder and just to discuss with her all these issues that were mentioned here. Try to settle the contract now just buying out the cat. I mean there is no penalty to try :)

OK, if you can't settle the contract you can make cat's life easier.

Again I am new to Bengals but I have been with animals for a long time.

1) Discuss with your vet calming supplement for the cat for the transition period.

2) Get your cat used to the idea that the environment can change and it is OK. Again discuss with vet or maybe with people here what will be better: e.g to give the cat to a breeder for a week or so every month or two or maybe for couple days every few weeks. Let cat think that it is her second home. Try to go for a walk with the cat.

3) It might be worth to have a buddy for a cat and send them both to a breeder at the same time. When they have each other they are not so stressed.

4) Prepare a moving kit that you will be sending together with the cat: bed, bowls, favorite toys, litter boxes, small scratch post, etc. The more staff around smells like home the more relaxed cat will be.


At the end people go on vacation and put their cats to kennels and cats are OK with it.

I wouldnt suggest getting another cat! Aside from the other cst being exposed to whatever Kira might be exposed to at the cattery, you will face reintroducing them everytime she comes back. Even tho they knew each other before, you csnt expect her to come home and be happy with her playmate. It will be the other cats territory and cause more stress on her. Not to mention by the time they gets used to one another again she will be back off to the breeders. I really wish you and your fsmily the best and hope this works out!

I did not mean to have a buddy and to separate them.

Sometimes with horses when we have extremely nervous sport horse that hates to travel we just take horse's best buddy with us. Even if it is absolutely not a show horse. Being near buddy makes the "main" horse much more settled.

I also noticed the same thing with my kittens. When they are together they don't seem to suffer a lot in the car or in vet office (knock on wood). They have each other and they are ready to explore.

So I was thinking to have a cat that will be desexed and will just go to a breeder together with the current cat.

All animals are different. You can't have a guarantee on anything :).

But I guess, the more options the topic starter will have to choose from the better. We can continue to discuss how her decision was bad but it will not change anything other than it will make the TS to feel much worse. Now she needs suggestions on what to do next to improve it.

I am sorry, but there is a huge difference between criticism and constructive criticism. You can train animals to do almost anything you want. You just need some patience and time. I know whole bunch of people who bring their cats to cottages for summer season and then bring them back to city for winter season. And cats deal with this perfectly.

I know people who actually drive around with cats from one hospital to another allowing sick kids to have access to pets, and cats get used to this and don't have stress.

Some cats participate in shows in front of thousands of people and they love it.

Some people are actually doing pet sharing, when a cat lives few weeks (days) at one place and then switches to another.

It is all about training and efficient way of doing it.

We can actually continue saying "Man! This is just horrible, you are killing this poor cat". But it is not the case.

I am pretty sure with some effort it can be OK for the cat.
