Looking for abit of advice really regarding breeding my new snow girl... i already have a male Champion solargem kuschiel Joscelin (brown Spotted)... Mia is currently 11 weeks... Bit early i know im looking to breed her when shes older, ive read she has to have called at least three times so roughly round 12 months old... i would be breeding her to a snow male... i was just wondering if she has to be a certain weight/ size before i did put them together... any more advice welcome as new to breeding bengals ive kept them for around 5 years now and love the breed so much im looking to expand and breed. xx

Hiya she has to be HCM scanned and pkdef tested so does the male, I am about to go out but loads of things on here :) You need to know her faults so what can be improved by the mating, will you neuter kittens before leaving you? Any reason why a snow to snow mating?

Sorry do you mean you bought her at 11weeks old? She is meant to come to you at 12-13weeks fully vac? Is she registered as a breeding queen? The breeder knows you want to breed? As they can mentor you.

Hiya i brought her at 9 weeks, i have had to get her jabs done ect, she has some next friday. sorry but what are HCM and pkdef, and no reson for snow to snow breeding. as far as i know she isnt registed as the lady never said anything.

You will really need a breeder mentor because down the line things will crop up (could be anytime during the day/night too) and having a relationship with a reputable breeder that sells you a queen so you have them on the end of a phone will be extremely helpful.
Im assuming the BYB you bought from doesnt care at all what you do with the kitten.....

You have all the time in the world to find a proper queen and to make preparations including researching the medical screening (and costs) that should be done for both parents as well as setting up a website and so on... plenty of time.

I cant tell you what age is ideal to begin breeding a queen but I would suggest that you ask the breeder that sells you a registered queen for breeding purposes... stay close with this breeder and keep in touch with them often.

IMO you should not breed this girl and instead have her spayed to keep her as a beloved pet.

Keep researching and learning if you wish to breed in the future (not with this girl) but to begin a breeding program you ABSOLUTELY must acquire a healthy registered queen from a good breeder with screening and pedigree practices in place... it would seem the breeder you brought this girl from is not legit (sold early - unvaccinated and unregistered - cheap?).

The risks of genetic illnesses (in the kittens produced) from unscreened cats is something the breeding members of the forum can inform you about.
But this girl? ... cannot have a single saleable pedigree kitten as she is not even (Screened?) registered let alone on the active register to breed.

as above really, you aren't helping any breed, you don't have a breed, your cat isn't registered, if you don't understand what I said above then please please neuter her, that is the basic of basics.

you need to start with a registered breeding girl from health tested parents. Around £800 - 1500 (last time I looked) HCM is a heart condition, you scan the cats once a year, the cost is anywhere from 300-1200 per cat per year BEFORE breeding. PKDEF FIV FELV BEFORE breeding. You should really show so you know your cats faults, or ask a good breeder who knows the standard, you then seek a cat that has what she needs, so each litter should hopefully be better then the last. It isn't just the male up the road, stud fees anywhere from £400-1000. You keep kittens for a min of 13weeks, fully vac and register them, neuter them (before they leave which is what I do, to stop people like the breeder you went to from getting their hand son my kittens) then others randomly breeding.

You already own a cat from a good breeder, why didnt you go to them? Can you please neuter your girl, go to them buy a show neuter and learn about all the breed standard and how to raise kittens, bengals need SO MUCH MORE then the 'average' litter to make them into well rounded cats.

She may not get on with your male anymore, so you need to know that, and must keep him separate from the kittens at all time, she may spray and crap all over your home when in call (mine did) she can change, she may need a C-section (around £1000) she may not look after her kittens, can you revive a kitten at birth? help mum give birth to one? hand rear X amount of kittens? prepared to loose mum during a birth? and yes I know it may go smoothly, but you need to know these things in case, I have used each of them, sadly

I have to say that this is the exact reason I gave up breeding, people just random breeding, the Bengal market is flooded, it is ruining what is a lovely breed you maybe stuck with a litter of 5 kittens unable to home them for £50 each. Very very sad, so advice is neuter have a wonderful pet and start from scratch.
