I put a deposit on my first Bengal baby last week. Everything seems completely above board and legitimate. The kitten is staying till 13 weeks, I was allowed to view parents (who are absolutely breathtaking) and it will be wormed flead and vaccinated.

But advice I have read says not to accept the owner saying that papers will be sent on and I should be given them on collection. My breeder asked if my cat was for pet or breed (it's pet) and asked me questions about home and got to meet my children. But she said that the registration is currently being done but the papers will be sent on afterwards because you can't register until the kittens are a certain age and it can take them 4-10 weeks to complete registration. This is only worrying me because the advice said this wasn't ok.
As I say eveything else seems absolutely perfect she even said she had turned down buyers in the past. Her kittens were super pampered and well handled etc etc. I hope she wouldn't be offeneded by my checking up-she's great I just don't know her personally and feel I need to cover myself because of that advice.

So could someone set my mind at ease please? is this usual practice? Uk breeder using TICA.

Hi before we did early neutering on our babies our sales contract for pet kittens stated the kitten should be neutered by the age of 7 months, and once we had seen proof of this we would then forward the TICA paperwork, ive always registered our kittens at a young age i havent had to wait untill a certain age.A lot of breeders in the UK do state once they have seen proof of neutering they will forward paperwork.

Hi all the breeders I know dont give out papers until the kitten is neutered, however you are always shown mum/dad paperwork etc
TICA take forever Im in the UK aswell and reg'd my last litter took 13weeks to ger to me, I neuter my kittense fore they leave me and its never back for when they leave!

Our 2 kittens came from the same breeder, our 1st kitten came with the papers but the 2nd kittens papers followed 2 weeks after we got him due to a delay with TICA processing the paperwork.

Thanks. That makes me feel better I was sure it must be right-I'm just paranoid and this is my first (as an adult) pedigree cat.
I had to phone the breeder to get some info that I forgot to ask last week and she was happy to tell me and had a chat about the kittens, she told me the pedigree prefix although I'm sure I misheard it lol.
I'm 100% confident now. And off to tidy the house some more and re string the cat tree and clear the tops of bookshelves.
It's all very exciting.
