Hi, I have a pregnant Bengal expecting her kittens in 9 days having been bred with a carefully chosen bengal male. She is 11 months old, I have been given conflicting advice as at the outset I was told the best time to breed her was after she had 3 callings ( which she had) as this could endanger her if left her have more callings without breeding or spaying.
Now she is pregnant I have been told she is a bit young. I am worried there might now be complications.
She is fit, healthy, big strong female and spoilt, spends most of her time either eating or sleeping on the sofa on the cushions at this point in her pregnancy. I have 'given' her the conservatory and am now confining her to that area when I am at work. I have set up several places she can make a nest in, none of which she has shown much interest in.
I just would like to know if she might be in any danger because she is 11 months old?

If your girl is healthy and strong then I see no reason why she shouldn't have a normal birth and produce healthy kittens. I had a girl years ago that started calling at 4 months old. I bred her at 10 months as she was very healthy and a good size. She went on to produce 8 kittens without any problems at all.

I'm really not sure why some breeders insist on mating queens after 2 or 3 calls or they will 'be in danger'. As long as you keep a close eye on their health and regularly check their temperature, look out for signs of lethargy/decreased appetite etc.. whilst they are in heat, then letting them have more than 3 heat cycles (if they are still relatively young) shouldn't be a concern as long as their health is closely monitored and/or regular vet visits are taken to check for infections.

Don't think you should be so worried. Of course it's best not to breed on first call or at 6 months old as they're still not fully grown (although heaps of stray cats manage it ), but at 11 months old it should be ok , she must have reached her adult size !
