A bit of advice please :)

For me, type comes first, every time. :wink:

I think I was 'raised' on the saying.....
"You build your barn, then you paint it".

Type is harder to get. Patterns and contrast can be picked up as you go along.

Meaning that if you throw out cats with great colour/pattern because you are busy "building the barn", then you also throw out genes that may come in useful later. It is easy enough to add a gross colour ie dilute or snow or silver or a pattern ie rosetting. However the clarity and depth and contrast and minute details of that colour and pattern are often controlled by polygenes.

Once you have finished building and want to paint, the fantastic colours/patterns (and polygenes) you threw out are then nowhere to be seen or found.
Concentrating on one trait, whatever it is, at the expense of another leads to reduction of the diversity of the gene pool.

theres a really nice/good breeder near me, no expereince with her but her snows are out of this world!

I was always told to only mate snow to a brown? dont know how much truth is in that?

Sorry its taken me so long to reply guys!

I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that has helped with all their information

As for now I have made a note of everything different people have said (i'm that sad i've started a reference hand book for myself :lol:

) and when the time comes to it i'm sure i'll be back in this section asking for more help

As for now, I must concentrate on little Milo before I think about any other additions to the family. Getting Deuce to like him is the hardest part so far :lol:
