New Breeder

Hi, I have 2 female Bengal queens and have just bought a adult stud from a breeder and am starting my own breeding program. I bought this male who is from glitterglam and has millwood in his pedigree. his father was TICA champion and his great grandfather was great grand champion Akerrs Bear Cat, but this boy has not been socialised so I have had my hands full trying to get him used to being handled. Slowly he is beginning to trust me. I would like to get some advice from breeders out there. My cats live in the home and my male does not spray. I also just want to do this as a hobby and feel that 2 females and a male are enough for me.

...Im sorry your boy is so shy and im sure there will be folk a plenty to give advice - imo though for what its worth breeding cats should be of sound temprement, outgoing & friendly.

id be worried if millwood wasnt in his pedigree seeing as they created the bengal!!

2 girls might be enough for you but say your boy crys out as his only mating the girls 1 time a year?

I am also surprised. Our Glitterglam kitten came to us well handled and the cats all trotted over in their runs to chirp a happy hello. Hope all goes well with him!

perhaps chillisauce has acquired him from an intermediary source who didnt continue his socialisation?just a thought.

Having visited quite a few breeders over the past few years, ive found whilst the kittens are lovely and socialised and the mums are usually pretty friendly, the dads/studs are not always as friendly, especially if they are kept outside in stud pens which most are...... I am not saying they are nasty but if they are used to being in pens as studs and then go to being an indoor cat it will take some adjusting, he just wont be used to it, but im sure in time he will adjust to it...

Sometimes well socialised kittens can be sold to another breeder who may not handle him/her enough. We do not know the reason behind this cat's behaviour, nor can we say what treatment he may have received in his previous home(s).

Can I ask what age he is now?
