We have a litter of 4 kittens and they will be ready to go in less than 3 weeks. We had them on our social media for a while, but now I want to start advertising in more places. With our last litter, we had them on Hoobly, and it looks like a nice place, very breeder friendly, but not much traffic, and on Craigslist, which is a cat and mouse game with posts constantly being flagged and removed, but most people contacted us from the CL. We sold our last 3 kittens fine, one buyer found us on Hoobly and another on CL (and the third one was a friend of a friend kind of deal), but the problem is that with Hoobly, there is not enough traffic on its own, our ad was there for 3 weeks and only has 50 views, and Craigslist was a pain with flagging and just a ton of people looking for a kitten for free or for like $50...

We also have some ads posted in our local small shops, not much coming from there, and social media is an absolute guessing game. \

What are the best way and places to advertise kittens for sale?

There are Facebook pages where breeders can post their bengal kittens. There are also other websites breeders utilize where they sell all breeds, not just bengals, bue some are country specific. Just Google "Bengal kittens for sale" and go through the results and check out the various websites that come up. If you find one you like join and post your kittens.

Most breeders also have a website and many use social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) to post their kittens. There is one well known breeder who is still trying to sell a kitten that is 37 weeks old. Other breeders have a waiting list that gets filled immediately and the kittens are all gone by 14 weeks. Breeding is a gamble. Some breeders have to discount the current litter because new litters are coming.

You want to make sure to check out the prospective owners to make sure your kittens are going to a great home. Good luck.

Craigslist is such a "Hive of scum and villainy". So many crooks and people behaving badly, I definitely wouldn't advertise there if it were me. I think if I were in your shoes, I'd try to create some really good videos of your kitten ("look how awesome this kitten is!"), show him being particularly playful or cuddly or funny or naughty and post them on youtube, then link to it on facebook and instagram, and ask if any of your friends want him, or if they have friends that would. Also look for facebook groups that are local to your town or region and post there. I'm not a breeder, but that's what I would do.

Shares on Facebook are what really propels the information getting out there. To this day, I don't understand or use Instagram. You are lucky to have a lot of ways to get the word and photos out there. Four kittens shouldn't be that difficult to get rid of if you have them priced competitively. There are a LOT of bengal breeders out there and I expect hundreds of bengals are born every day in the US alone. This is why breeders are switching to Savannahs as there are fewer out there to fill the demand and the kittens cost a lot more than bengals.

Thanks for great advice everyone. Yes Craigslist is a pain, it gets the most eyes on the ad, but 99% of those people don't expect to have to pay a fair price for a pure bred kitten. So far we have deposits on 2 out of 4 kittens from the latest litter. One from Facebook and one from Craigslist. Now Craigslist has started deleting my ads almost instantly, so I'm not sure if I can continue to post there, at least not without creating a new account looks like. To be honest, I price my kittens similarly to other breeders that I come across (of similar quality), but sometimes I wonder if it's still too much for my area as I get a ton of emails and texts, but no one seem to be able to accept the price. My kittens will be ready to go in about a week, and my plan is to start gradually lowering the price every couple of weeks after that until they sell.

I also don't mind negotiating the price with the right buyer. Yes I don't want to let them go cheap, I want to make sure people that buy them are serious, but I can drop a hundred or two if someone asks, funny thing is, no one ever asks. Every time we bought a kitten, we always asked for a slightly better price and breeders agreed every time.

The problem with lowering your price is that then people expect it. "I'll wait until they are giving away the kitten" which by that time, maybe an adult. Purebred bengal prices vary from $750 to $3,000 for just a pet quality cat. The more name recognition you have and the pedigree with a ton of Supreme Grand Champions are going to yield a much higher price. Right now I know a breeder who is breeding a SGC to a QGC (Quadruple Grand Champion) and their price has really gone up as the kittens are truly spectacular.

Most breeders generally are in the $1,200 to $1,800 range. You want to recoup the cost because you've had to pay for the queen and stud, their health care and health test costs, food, and then the kittens require medical checkups and vaccinations prior to leaving you. Having them spayed and neutered should be done as well. Much easier on the owner and you don't have to worry about someone breeding them.

Very few breeders make a living breeding cats. Some also breed horses and dogs. Others work a full time job in addition to caring for the cats. Unless you are going to go full cattery with about 12 queens and 4 to 6 studs and have kittens year around with a huge demand for them, you are not going to get rich. There are breeders in Russia who have a lot of cats and have litters constantly.
