There are sites that sell chicks prekilled... I know someone on another forum that feeds them to her cats.

They are pre killed chicks I think.
It's not something I would do personally, I'm just wondering why people choose this method of feeding..? I'm a little confused

In the wild a cat would eat whole prey that is guts, bones, feathers, fur, everything. (mice, birds rabbits etc.)
The chick is whole prey, so some feel that their cats are healthier on that food model or perhaps to supplement a more conventional diet as a treat.

Many, including me, do not have the stomach to do that though I am sure it is appreciated by the cats themselves.

I do feed mine raw but it's the minced variety - with muscle and bone included - but it's not identifiable as an animal. They feed themselves on prey from outdoors too but generally it's the four legged variety rather than feathered - too much effort to catch I suppose

I can understand the whole 'natural' thing.. Although personally I couldn't stomach it.

Would feeding whole prey to breeding queens encourage them to kill their kittens though..?

I'm just quite interested in the feeding whole animal v raw v cooked v commercial food.

I would imagine it would be quite hard to wean a kitten off chicks, when it went to it's new home..

Queens eat their kittens placenta's but not the kittens so I wouldn't of thought they would mistake their kitten for a baby chick. In the wild eating prey would be the only source of food for many animals and if this encouraged them to kill their offspring then all species would die out.
