Piper is refusing anything and everything that I offer her. She is drinking water but taking no food. Now she is sleeping a lot IMO. This transition from raw to canned food has been tough on her. She won't even eat the Blue Wilderness dry kitten food we got her. I even offered her human albacore tuna and all she did was lick a little of the water. I am very concerned for her. Any ideas would be welcome.

When a cat stops eating, and has little energy, that generally means they are very ill. With a kitten, there is even more urgency. You need to take your cat to the vet asap.

Hey Sandra:

Please take Piper to the vet for a check up. There could be something medically going on. Plus, you do not want to ever let your cat go 48 hours without food. They can develop fatty liver disease which reaches a point where the cat cannot be saved. (An emergency vet told me many owners wait too long and the cat cannot be saved).

Your vet can recommend food or you can syringe some pate food into your kitty. It is very important kittens eat. The fact that she is sleeping a lot is another sign.

I can't stress enough that any time your cat changes its behavior, you immediately get to the vet to see what is going on. Better to be safe than sorry.

I hope Piper gets better.

Piper had a belly full of food this morning and then I got this great idea to give her her anti-diarrhea Rx which she soundly threw up food Rx and all. So, she is eating and active but now we have to get food into her again. What a challenge!! Thanks for the responses.

Poor kitty. If it were me though, I'd have my cat in the car speeding towards the vets.

It is really important that you see a vet. Seriously! A new kitten should visit a vet within 72 hours of leaving a breeder (many stipulate in their contract for their health guarantee). Piper is vomiting. This is a serious situation, even more so because she is so young. Going to a vet will start a medical history on her. I know you are happy she is better, but it does not sound like she is out of the woods by any shot. This could be as simple as a parasite that can be treated. They don't go away on their own. They live in the digestive system and mess with both ends. A stool sample should be checked.

Please have her checked by a vet.
