Hi guys an gals, I have a 9 month old male who is constantly pestering for food, we feed him 3pouches of wet food per day and also has dry through the day. We treated him for worms just in case as we thought this was the problem. He is currently 4-5kg neutered and very active and healthy. Are we feeding him enough? And what do you guys find is the best food to keep him happy?? Also his poop is quite sloppy! Any advice would be great as he is our first Bengal. Thanks in advance gav.

Ok, so some thoughts on this:

1. Sounds like he's having some digestive issues. That's something that you need to take action on. What have you tried so far? Has a vet seen him and commented on this? It could be any number of things, probably the most common of them would be a parasite or a food allergy.

2. So what is his feeding schedule and behavior like? How many times a day is he fed? Does he eat all he is given in these feedings immediately? Or does he eat some and come back later to finish? Is he eating his dry food? From what you said, I'm guessing that he simply isn't real thrilled by his dry food. If that's the case then you have two choices, either you feed him more of the wet food, and feed him at least 3x/day or so, or find a dry food that he likes a lot better.

3. It's impossible to say simply by his age and weight whether he is very overweight, very underweight, or anything in between. You have to look at his body shape to make that determination. If you posted a picture of him from above, so that we could see the contour of his body, we could probably comment more.

He feeds at breakfast dinner and tea time. 1 pouch each time. He eats the dry food through the day. The vet said to worm him just in case. I can’t up load a picture! Keeps saying it’s to big on file size.

You are probably not feeding him enough. My boy eats like a horse. I feed him two 6oz cans (probably equal to 4 pouches) every day plus a large portion of raw meat (usually beef heart or beef kidney) every day. Oberon weighs 14 lbs.

I am accustomed to ignoring well fed cats who beg for food with that "I am starving Mom" look and meow. I used to look at him and tell him "You can't possibly still be hungry." He eats way more than any other cat I have ever had.

He won't even touch kibble, so I can't use that to keep him full up.

I have just resigned myself to feeding him wet food all day to keep that beautiful muscular body and high metabolism purring.

Many bengals have sensitive digestive systems. Mine does. I use FortiFlora which is probiotic and sprinkle it over his food. I also use a dry food that is for sensitive digestive system (Royal Canin). This stools are better, but still not perfect. We had an ultrasound done last year which showed nothing but an thick intestinal lining. Some cats are more sensitive to certain foods. You can try different diets and see what helps the most.

Thanks for the reply’s guys. I will increase his food and see if that helps. He is very very active so probably just burning it off fast.

My girl is very active and I leave dry down all the time for them both and I feed wet food whenever they ask they also have things like cooked turkey and fish as well as their normal food.

Sloppy stool is concerning and he may have an allergy to something in the current food. Two of my 3 Bengals had food sensativities and i had to try many different foods (slowly) to get it right and finally her stools formed up. Diarrhea mean it is passing through the digestive tract too fast (if parasites ruled out).

Could be due to a weak stomach and intolerance of wet food, which is common among cats. You can try giving him a quality probiotics, can be powder or gel form.
