It's awesome that you are researching this stuff and planning, but you are getting ahead of yourself imo. You can't fall in love with any particular food yet because you don't know his preferences! And make no mistake, there's a really good chance that whatever you buy now you'll end up tossing out, it doesn't pay to try to force something he doesn't like on a cat.
My experience (which is only one datapoint) is that all three of my cats hate primal, and they do like blue wilderness to various degrees depending on the flavor (love duck, like chicken, and are "meh" about the rest).
Anyway, what Sheri said about keeping the food the same for now is good advice. It's cool to research different foods and such now for when you transition him, but buy as small of quantities as you can.
