This forum has been a tremendous wealth of information for me, I wish I had found it sooner!

My 12 year old Bengal has had loose stool / diarrhea since he was about 6... he always used a litter box and has never gone outside the box until about 6 months ago... in the past 30 days, it's gotten 100x worse and he is going diarrhea almost minutes after eating... and often vomiting some, then has diarrhea again.. I've tried the raw diet, he won't touch it... he's not interested in most of the grain free foods... He quit eating his dry food a while ago and only nibbles on it, so he mainly relies on wet food... his favorites are unfortunately the least nutritious ones that have byproducts, but my vet insists to feed him WHATEVER he will eat to maintain his weight. He is under 8 lbs already and cannot afford to lose more weight. We've tried probiotics like Fortiflora but that didn't change anything... also tried Goat's milk, but he won't drink it... Several years ago my vet sent me to the specialist clinic to have his abdomen scanned to make sure he didn't have a mass or any form of cancer - there was nothing. We are going back tomorrow to have him scanned again since something could have changed over the years.. My vet has said she thinks he may have IBD but the procedure is so invasive, she doesn't recommend it for a cat his age. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

He will start to eat a food and then lose interest quickly and never touch it again - wet & dry. He MUST keep eating, he is so frail and his fur is starting to thin... Are there any foods you recommend that a very picky older Bengal would eat? Any input is appreciated!

I would try plain meat baby food in the small jars. It is very palatable and has worked for sick cats in the past.

Will your vet let you do IV fluids? Lactated Ringers might be helpful to replace electrolytes and fluids.

This sounds like a mirror imagine of what my previous boy had, his started when he was under 1, it started with scans and then he had a biopsy of his intestine to determine that it was IBD, once he was healed from the biopsy which took a while and he had lost a huge amount of weight he was skeletal, they then put him on prednisalone and chemotherapy tablets which worked brilliantly for at least 3 years but then he started having problems again and I was like you he wouldn't eat any of the good quality foods which I don't think helped.
Eventually he was spending a fair bit of time at the vets, one day he was in discomfort and I rushed him to the vets, they scanned him and said his intestine had ruptured, they persuaded me to let them operate on him they cut out the damaged piece of intestine and I was told it was cancer, he stayed at the vets for several weeks but was never himself again.
They sent him home with me but the next day I had to get the vet to come to the house to end his suffering, I wish I had never been persuaded to go through with the last operation.
He was only 5 years old when we lost him.
It still haunts me to this day.
I really hope you can your cats problem under control.

I have this same issue with my 11 year old bengal, except he only poops once a day and it is like liquid most days. We did an ultrasound, I've changed his food. Today I had him at the vet and he continues to lose weight and is now under 9 pounds. They ran tests and everything was normal except calcium. We hope to see a specialist to try and figure this out before he wastes completely away.

My Raiden has a great appetite. The food is just not being absorbed properly. I give him a probiotic which now doesn't seem to be helping at all. Constant diarrhea could mean something else is going on. Especially with the vomiting. Did your vet check for parasites AND TF?

You have probably tried it but thought I’d mention it incase you have not. My 15 year old has a very sensitive bowl and stomach and get loose stools and throwing up from all cat foods apart from, for some reason ...Royal Canin Veterinary Sensitivity Control Chicken & Rice flavour. I’ve tried so many different cat foods that are meant to be better quality but they don’t help and now she just won’t eat anything else, doesn’t touch dry food either. But also as others have mentioned plain chicken is the only other food that is ok for her and that she will eat and that does not affect her stool and insides.

Several food manufacturers have specialty foods for various cat issues. The problem is many cats do not like eating it. I tried several (Royal Canin, Hills Science) and no luck at all. We are now on Weruva which he and my other cat LOVE but it doesn't seem to be helping any. I hate having to see a specialist and put my poor baby through testing. Since it's not nonstop diarrhea and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it (it's just messy to clean from the litter box), I'm not sure I want to dig really deep into this.
