Our kitten is currently 4 months old- when we bought her she was on royal canin kitten biscuits and wet food. We have kept her wet food the same but changed her biscuits- which we have done gradually. I made an error with some dry biscuits (they were senior not kitten). I've stopped giving her those straight away (she had a few meals of them) and have put her on new dry biscuits still with her meat and a few of the origional biscuits. She is absolutely fine in herself, eating well, playing etc but she has diarrhoea. She doesn't go more often than she used to, it's just a lot looser.

I've been told to cut food out but she's literally meowing she's so hungry- so I've just been feeding her small amounts. Is there anything else i could try? Could it just be the new biscuits really dont agree with her? I don't really want to change her food again but not sure what to do.

First: any change in food can easily led to diarrhea - kittens have very sensitive stomachs.

How long have you had her?
It's very possible that her issue isn't the food but;, a parasite. New kittens are very prone to parasites and that's a huge cause of diarrhea and for always being hungry (not that kittens aren't always hungry!).

Another possibility is just stress from the change - stress can easily lead to loose stools.

The big concern with diarrhea and a kitten is getting dehydrated. Make sure she always has water she can access; try to feed more wet food rather than dry - they get way more water from wet food than drinking water. When you feed the wet food is she finishing everything?
Personally I would stop with the dry food entirely - she doesn't need it - just have lots of wet food for her to eat when she's hungry. You can always separate one can in multiple meals.

Usually with a parasite, the diahrrea is constant. They go multiple times throughout the day. If the poo is just runny and they are only going once or twice a day, it's probably due to the diet. Kittens usually have very sensitive stomachs and trying to change their diet from what they were used to at the breeders is difficult and has to be done over time. I don't know much about "biscuits" but they sound like they may be harder to digest for a kitten. I would definitely be feeding wet food at this point. As OntarioBengals pointed out, the move to a new home can also trigger diarrhea. Hopefully, things will improve.

Dry food isn't great for cats. We don't feed any dry food. We've found that it can cause a lot of issues.

I'm glad things are better - you can definitely try to transition to another wet food if you want; but definitely do it very slowly (10% at a time).

Glad to hear that eliminating the biscuits have helped. This is not to say you can't re-introduce them, but obviously, her tummy can't handle them right now.

My vet told me the ideal diet for cats is 50% wet food and 50% dry food.
My Bengal cat just turned 8 months old and he has a sensitive stomach. Gave him gastro canned food and he loves it hence why he stopped drinking water but now I want to change his food back to regular. What do you recommend? Staying on a canned food diet everyday is that ok for them and their teeth in the long run?
If I buy a high quality grain free kibble that is high in protein would that be ok, with the occasional canned food?

Owners can feed their cats whatever they want to ... and it's up to the cat to decide whether they like it or not. Mine eats mainly canned food and always has some dry that he will nibble on when his wet food bowl is empty. A cat who has a sensitive stomach is always going to have that issue, so the kitty must stay on a food that will not upset the digestive system. These things don't usually "cure" themselves. I'm sure the special diet is expensive, but giving your cat something else will just cause the problems to reappear.

Many cats get only wet food and I don't believe it causes tooth issues. The vast majority of cats need their teeth cleaned at some point regardless. Mine was brought up on only dry food the first six years of his life and his tarter build up was enough that I had to have his teeth cleaned after I took possession of him.

The diet change might have caused the diarrhea, cats do have sensitive stomachs.
