To be short and sweet, heres the deal.

Cleo eats like its the last meal she will ever have. Lily picks and licks. They both eat their dry food throughout the day. Lily isnt losing weight, but im curious if she will fall behind in size for the long term. Cleo is jumping way ahead of her. They are sisters. Anyone else experience this? Ive seen some similar threads on it. Any suggestions? We have tried multiple foods and Lilys habits have not changed.

Every cat is different! I would not be alarmed unless you see weight loss. Yes, most cats devour their food. But just like human children, appetites can be different! If you are truly concerned, then try out a different food for Lily. I've got a cat that loves tuna cat food. The other doesn't care for it at all and prefers chicken.

I have to feed my two girls a food they both like. If I don't one walks away and the other eats double!

These sisters eat at the same speed (warp starvation speed) as long as it is a food they both love. They ingest the same amount of food but for some reason one is 15.5 pounds and the other one is only 10 pounds. They are rescues so I don't know absolutely that they are from the same litter. That is one of the mysteries you are left wondering about with rescue cats.

Blondie was always a bit smaller as a kitten now she has a lean arched back and double jointed swirly tail. She is very agile and fast. She runs like a greyhound dog around the house and has delicate limbs with wide eyes and a kitten look on her face.

Grace has thick arms and legs with big paws. Her back is so muscular but her middle is much bigger than Blondie. She can throw her body around the kitty gym like nobody's business and she also runs very fast when she spots prey. Her head and neck are wide and he eyes are more sinister looking than her sister's as she keeps her pupils up very high so you can barely see them.

I imagine that just like us humans, their metabolic rates are just different. I have two brothers. One (Hendrix) is a dustbin, scoffs his food and begs by the cupboard I keep the treats. The other (Jagger) is bit of a grazer, but overall I'd say he eats more than Hendrix. And yet Hendrix is way more active - but there is still only about 100g between them in weight.

As long as both are healthy and gaining weight I shouldn't worry. Children grow at different rates too so it may be that the smaller will catch up eventually. I know Hendrix was always heavier as a kitten but now they are pretty much the same, although with different body types. Hendrix is long legged and lanky and Jagger way more compact in his build.

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it. I have a small update.

Lily seemed to really like the blue package of Fresh Pet chicken and whitefish chunks. Grain free, a couple veggies. She seemed to like it a bit more than the simply nourish chicken pate.

Cleo would eat the bark off of trees if I let her outside. So I think I'm going to feed Cleo first with the pate, and while she's distracted bring Lily in another room to eat her chunks.

My bengal is a grazer! Eats constantly throughout the day. The outdoor cat I feed licks his bowl clean instantly! Happy you found something Lily is enjoying more. That should help increase her food intake.
