Our bengal has lived on Purine One and Royal Canin for the past 3 years before we got her. After looking at the nutrition and ingredients, we are not impressed at all. I found a website linked from this forum for grading the food, and the Purina One got a solid F. The Royal Canin was too pricey for the amount of grains in it. We have no problem paying that much for food, but we want to get food fit for a bengal. We've looked at EVO, Merrick, Blue Wilderness, and Nature's Variety Instinct. All are readily available at our local pet store. We have a sample starter of the Merrick Backcountry Raw Infused and plan to gradually try and mix that in. After studying the ingredients of Purina One, we want to stop giving that right away. She occasionally does just have Royal Canin instead of the mix and does just fine with that. She was given a can occasionally as a treat before we got her, but everything I have read advocates giving them more canned food for hydration purposes. She does drink lots of fresh water from her bowl, though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for dry food and how often she should have wet food? We're going to take her to the vet soon and talk to her about nutrition.

You can buy the #1 best and healthiest food for your bengal but if she doesn't like it and refuses to eat it, there is no point! When trying to change foods, do it gradually so there is no upset to the digestive system. My bengal will not eat any high-quality foods. I have wasted tons of money on it. Raiden gets what he will eat.

I suggest picking up a can or two of different brands and flavors and seeing what she will eat. Make note of the ones she loves and go from there. Mine gets mainly canned food but always has dry to nibble on if his bowl is empty. As long as your baby drinks a lot of water, dry food isn't a huge problem. But, I think most cats enjoy both wet and dry.

My cats love their venison. They are on a single protein diet and really enjoy the following premium wet foods: Koha super premium venison pate, Lotus Just Juicy Venison Stew Grain-Free and Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Venison & Green Pea. The second two are available on chewy.com.

My kitties were eating Koha venison for the past year but they recently eliminated the 3 oz cans and only have the larger 5.5 oz cans so I switched to the other two listed above. I like that Lotus is 2.5 oz can and is a stew with extra moisture. They like the wet food, but since they also get dry venison food they should share less than 3 oz twice a day to keep their weight down. Now that they are 2 and a half years old, they sleep the afternoons away.

I feed wet food daily and they have some dried left down to graze on, most people will tell you a totally dried diet is not suitable as a cat would not eat dry food in the wild.

Wet food will give them lots of moisture to their diet as cats don't tend to drink very much.

I have tried all sorts of expensive food to no avail, mine will not touch it so now I feed them what they will eat, I know lots of people who have fed their cats whatever they will eat and they have lived to a good age, my brothers cat was 21.

I do second what everyone says here about feed what your cat will eat but also what their stomach can handle.

My previous girl wouldn't eat any decent cat food I tried for years but I often gave her meat to help with it. My current little girl will eat anything including pretty good quality food so I'm not worried about her she also seems to have a stomach of steel, my little boy will eat the better quality foods but has been having issues with his tummy coping with it all so I've had to give him a lower quality wet that he's used to and keep him on that because of his stomach. Just listen to what's been said above about not buying large bags of food or lots of tins before you have tried it for a week to see how their tummy handles it.
