Our recent addition Loki is about 14 months old and he's absolutely wonderful, settling great, super adorable. He always seems to be hungry though, wanting what we're eating, running off with things (loaves of bread, packets of instant mash) that kind of thing. I'm not sure if we're not feeding him enough or if it's just his mischievous nature.

He's just under 4kg and we're currently feeding him Aatu dry food morning and evening. I don't want to be starving him but I'm also conscious of over feeding :/

What kind of diet are you feeding your not-really-a-kitten, not-quite-an-adult cats?

Under 4kg for an adult male is unusually light, assuming an average size (length). Basically you need to look at his shape and determine whether he is under-weight of not. A vet can give you that feedback also during a routine exam. We can also give you opinions if you post a photo of him, particularly from above him looking down (like in the picture below).

Does he like the food that you are giving him? Does he eat his portion in one sitting? You say that he is very enthusiastic about people-food, but what about cat food?

Honestly at his age he is supposed to be a bottomless pit! Like Brian said though a picture would help. Based on what youve said though it sounds completely normal to me! Mine are both topping 6kg now and they arent even slightly overweight to look at them

At about 12 months, my two slowed with the amount they were eating, but they are also around 6kg each now. 4kg does sound light, but I think in your other post in introductions you say he is half Siamese, so it's hard to say! I believe overall they are a lighter breed.

Check the table Brian provided, and also as he said, is he enthusiastic about his proper food? My two are on a combination of wet and dry and they clear their dishes on the whole. However, it took a while to find a dry food jagger would eat and they went off their wet umpteen times before we settled on their current food. Jagger has meowing heads dry, Hendrix Royal canin sensible as his tummy is a bit delicate. Then they both eat meowing heads wet and also thrive wet. I try to have two types they'll eat in case they decide they've gone off one or the other.

Oh wow claire it sounds like your 2 are dead fussy! Mine will eat literally anything I give them, haha

Bengals probably need even more food than a regular moggie who sleeps 20 hours a day. Mine is always awake and walking around and he grazes throughout the day. I don't limit the amount of food he has and he's 9 years old. I always fed my other kitties three times a day. Morning, afternoon and evening. The majority of cats will stop eating when they are full and the problem is being an inactive cat that adds the pounds. If the bengals are active, then they really need to have the amount of food to keep them going. Bengals aren't fully grown at 14 months even .... so don't limit them. If you see them puffing up (which you won't), you can always cut back.

.....that being said, they have just pestered me to give them some of the nicest turkey in the world. Its dead expensive and really delicious and I reluctantly put some on the floor for them. They then proceeded to ignore it! Devastated, lol

Thank you for the replies everyone :) He looks and feels completely fine, not underweight. He's a good size but, as Tabitha rightly said, he is part siamese and he has that sleek figure so perhaps it's that contributing to the lower weight than your feline friends. I may research average weights for siamese and oriental breeds.

He loves the food he's on right now and will eat a portion in one go (going on the recommended servings from the food itself). I have been feeding slightly more each meal for the past few days but he's still being a pest! Though, as I said, I'm unsure if it's hunger or naughtiness!!

EDIT: I have just found that adult males weigh from around 4.5kg so that may explain the differences in weight
