Hey guys! So my precious F1 Fiona has recently started to become a very picky girl.
We had her on Royal Canin canned when she came home from the breeder as a kitten, she started to refuse it, and then transitioned her to blue wilderness canned. She loved blue wilderness! She'd growl for the can! She doesn't like any fish foods, anytime we tried fish she would refuse it but loved their chicken. All of a sudden she is refusing this food. We were worried since she would not eat and brought home Natures Variety, instinct. She seemed to like it a lot, but it's twice the price and just not cost efficient. We looked into NUTRO Max Cat, and she ate that just fine too without hesitation. I'm just not sure about NUTRO and its quality. It seems to have less protein, and some ingredients that I can't clearly make out. I've read good reviews, but mainly from regular cat owners with different dietary needs.
We plan on getting a grinder in the future, so raw food may be our option, but not at this moment.
Anyone familiar with NUTRO Max cat?
Any good recommendations?

Where do you buy your pet food from currently? And in what quantities?

Yea, going from Blue Buffalo to Max does seem like a pretty big step down in quality.

Also, one more thing to add, I have two house kitties... And Fiona loves to steal their purina food. I try to keep it away from her, but sometimes she's sneaky. It's like she craves the lower quality food. I'm just not ok with it, being that she's way more active than the other two.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the suggestions. I actually saw tiki on chewy.com and it had a lot of good reviews and good amount of protein!
But I will check out the rad food as well!

It's true though. I mean I'd rather get her used to a few brands now, just in case, because I don't want her to not want her food and I switch her and then she gets sick!

I also found Darwins raw food that you can order to your house I may try, but I know there are mixed belief on raw and not raw.

I was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices on chewy.com, so I'm glad you named a few options!

Cats can change what they will eat from time to time so save those cans and surprise them with one down the road. They may surprise you and gobble it because it is new again. I have ordered from chewy.com for about a year. They carry a prescription dry food my cats eat and deliver it to my door. That is more convenient than going to the vet office to buy it. I tried Tiki and Waruva from chewy.com and my one cat didn't love them when I first fed it to them. Now many months later they are both gobbling it up with gusto! I prefer to feed my cats a quality food and never let them have a taste of cheaper food. My last cat was hooked on Fancy Feast grocery store food and developed kidney failure. I had to hydrate her for 4 years. I don't want to go through something like that again so I feed my babies quality food hoping they are as healthy as possible.

CMYKjill Wow! Yeah luckily she does eat high quality, and has since she's been little. However, I've tried switching our other cats to high quality and have never had success. I'm sure it's because I haven't been patient enough, but they are also such a ridiculously stubborn bunch! I can totally understand you not wanting to go through that ever again. I'm sure she's happy she has such an awesome kitty mom!
And I guess in regards to different food, every cat will have different taste buds. I find it odd, but Fiona won't eat anything fish. I even got her some minnows live to hunt and she wouldn't eat those.... but the dog did. Haha

And yeah, I saw food the other day at the store in a clear package and it looked just like chicken salad, I joked with my husband that we can take care of the cats and us at the same time haha!

Haven't we all heard cats are finicky eaters? That is so true! What a cat will eat one week, they refuse to eat the next week. You have an F1, which is 50% ALC. They eat raw in the wild and I'm happy to hear you want to transition to that. I get all my food from Chewy.com. I've ordered the expensive stuff and my cat will not eat it! In fact, I have two cases that I spent over $70 on sitting in this room that I will be giving away. I have to feed him the cheaper stuff or I toss the food! You really need to find something that your baby will eat. And don't worry -- she may come back to the other food. Initially, my bengal refused to eat seafood. Now he will eat tuna and salmon cat food. A week later, he will refuse to eat it and go back the following week. A variety of foods is good. We would not want to eat the same thing day after day, would we? (Excluding dark chocolate and Cheetos. LOL).

Feeding all parts of the raw chicken -- heart, liver, crushing bones for calcium. Cat's require taurine which si found in the heart and liver. You can also purchase vitamin supplements for your kitty to add to the raw. There is a great topic here on raw feeding and a lot of information online.

Many who feed raw purchase a meat grinder, make up a large quantity, divide in into daily portions, keep in the freezer and just thaw out for the day.
