My Bengal Leo will be 3 this year.. I've had him on wellness formula since he was a kitten. But he is very skinny. He gets wet and dry food but I feel like he is just too skinny. He is very active so I know he burns a lot but compared to his parents he looks too skinny. He is partially indoor/outdoor and I had a crazy neighbor that was feeding him crappy cheap cat food and I had to ask her multiple times not to feed him. He did fatten up a bit when he was eating her food but Im pretty positive that's just because it's all fillers. Is wellness good for bengals? Or should I switch his food? The breeder I got him from feeds her bengals Iams but i feel like that is not good food.. Is there a reason she feeds them Iams? All her bengals look so healthy.. They don't look fat or over fed. Should I be feeding him more wet food ? I free feed dry food and give him a can of wet food a day.. Should I be doing a raw food diet? I live in the states.

I think a lot of bengal owners feel their kitty is too thin. Bengals are slender cats! Long and slim! Very muscular! I think Wellness should be fine to feed your kitty! Here's a chart that might help you figure things out.

If your cat is indoor/outdoor, you really have no control over what he does and doesn't eat. You may feed him one thing, but he may prefer something different that someone else is feeding him (like you mentioned), and that's on you, you can't even know what he is eating necessarily, and can't rely on scolding neighbors to "fix" that. The simple fact is that your cat is going to eat whatever he likes the best among the different options he has presented to him. So no matter how carefully you look at the choices based on nutrition, if it comes in 2nd (or 3rd) in the taste category, your food is not going to be what he eats.

I understand that. But he comes home 3+ times a day just to eat,drink, and say hi but he still looks malnutritioned .. So what I am feeding him is obviously not mixing well or possibly not sufficient enough for how active he is. That's why I am reaching out to fellow Bengal owners to ask what you feed your bengals.

Do some research on higher calorie quality cat food. Many manufacturers have quality specialty foods for certain conditions (digestive, weight control, etc.). If you can easily feel your kitties ribs, the kitty may be too thin. Know, too, that if you plump the kitty up, it will take a while -- months. Do you have a scale to weigh your kitty? If you have a human scale, step on it. Get your weight. Grab your cat, weigh again, and then subtract your weight. My male is 9 years old and consistently stays at 12.4 pounds. The vet says he is the perfect weight.

It sounds like you cat is pretty active. I myself have an active bengal. I give her wet and dry food, as she gets bored with only one kind. She is very picky and only eats Applaws wet food and Royal canine dry food. Both of these are very good quality cat foods. Applaws wet food is an actual meat in jelly, and not just cubes of mushed cheap meat. She is a big fan of it! She has amazing fur and she looks and acts like a health and loving cat. She is very lean and muscly, and she only eats when she is hungry. I would highly recommend good quality food, because bengals are very active and they rarely overeat. So we have to make sure they get all their nutrients they need! :)
