You need to be careful about the whole dry and canned thing, at 5 years old. What you don't want is for your cat to graze on dry food all day, and then have an option to eat or not eat canned at night (or vice versa). Cats at that age can over-eat pretty easily, plus if your cat is used to dry food, and prefers dry food, I think you will find that she will be far pickier about the canned food if she is filled up on dry when it is time to eat. What I've found is that if I give them an amount of dry in the morning, that they will consume in one sitting (4 or 5 minutes tops), then by evening time they are ready and have a good appetite for the canned or raw food.
I wouldn't worry too much about the outdoor vs indoor for thing. I think it's mostly a marketing gimmick. But I tend to evaluate food based on ingredient list, protein %, how much protein seems to be coming from high quality meat sources etc.
To help with specific suggestions about food, you'll need to let us know where you live, and it's extra helpful if you put that on your profile, that way whatever thread you participate in, that info is there.
