It's me again guys sorry!!

I have bought Simba and Nala their new diet. I have bought a better quality biscuit than they were on and then i have bought Hi Life meat for them. Sadly we can't afford an all meat diet as much as i would love to so this is just an attempt to make an improvement for them!

Well last night we thought we would test them with the wet food (expecting to have to spend a few days convincing them) and BOY were we wrong. They ate the lot! And then cried for more.

Anyway, my question is, before i start feeding them this properly, as Hi Life is not complete and their dry food is. What is the ratio as i know it can't be half and half due to the wet being incomplete. I'm sure i read that incomplete can't be anymore than 20%. Is this right? And if so would it be ok to measure out 80% of the recommended amount of biscuit and then give them a pouch a day? I don't want to make them ill or miss anything important by not getting enough complete.

Also, i have bought the applaws treats, some really good stuff. What else could i give as treats? Lollo mentioned prawns but do they need to be fresh raw prawns or can they be frozen and just taken out 10 minutes before we give to them? I am interested in starting raw feed once i am more confident (i'm not sure whether fully raw or partial yet, or whether to try Natural Instinct before making it) so i am happy to try raw treats i'e chicken wings as long as someone explain how to do this safely as bones terrify me and i want to know what to do if they choke!!!

Thanks in advance everyone :-)

Can't comment on the food rations, but for treats you can get creative :) For "ready in the cupboard" treats I use Cosma Snackies, as they aren't too expensive. From the fridge, any bit of meat you choose - you can just give them raw chicken wings, etc they will crunch up the bone just fine. You can buy bits of different animals for variety - chicken, lamb, rabbit, pheasant, etc. I give mine dead whole chicks a couple times a week, you could do these or mice.

The only thing I would say is if you can lock them in the kitchen while eating these things, do. They like to drag their "prey" around the house. I have found half eaten bones under the bed, behind the couch...

I buy fresh cooked prawns and sometimes freeze them, occasionally i buy frozen depending on the price as they are not always cheaper. With 5 cats that love prawns they do get through a few at one sitting so i don't have many left from a box of fresh anyhow. But if you wanted to give them a few each as a treat every now and then frozen would be fine. They do not take long to defrost. My Toby loves frozen prawns anyhow  They all love cooked prawns but Toby and Evie LOVE raw prawns. I know they are not recommended as such but they don't come to much harm from the odd raw prawn as a treat.

I have also read that a treat should not be more than 20% of their daily diet.

Some High Life is complete so check on that, might be able to give them some of the complete as well. Not sure it tastes as nice to them.

They will probably chew the meat off first. I only have 2 bone crunchers here. The youngest one has a go but isn't so interested. Toby and Lily love to crunch bones though. They crunch off little bits and are fine with them. Never had an issue with bones stuck or causing a problem. Think you commented on my video on another thread. The little kitten only really chewed the meat off and chewed the bone a bit but didn't really break the bone, just exercising her jaw really.

Oh i see that's cool. I can't wait to let them try this stuff. I did start looking around for ingredients for raw for when we try that. I'm guessing heart and kidneys etc comes from butchers as couldn't see nothing in the shop. I couldn't see salmon oil either. I'm so intrigued by all this stuff it's like a whole new world lol :-)

Ok thanks Heather. Yeah i'm betting they will just throw it around. I have read that people cut the wing into 4 bone sections or something before giving it but i don't understand what that means...
