I am keen to introduce my girls to a raw diet (not exclusively raw)
Currently they are fed HS Kitten, dry.

Was just wondering if any kind soul ( and I know there are lots of you here ) could give me some advice on how and what to introduce.

I understand we should introduce it slowly over time.

Is 13 weeks too young to start giving raw? Also I am not 100% sure WHAT to give. I understand they can have chicken.
Do we literally give them a tiny bit at a time.

Also do they need wet meat AS well?

IE pouches, dry and raw? or is this too much for them to cope with?

I tried my boy Rohan on a raw diet. He refuses to properly chew his food so he would vomit near full pieces of meat. He absolutely wouldnt start eating bone. He is very thin anyway so I just put him back on cat food. I supplement both cats food with raw too. My dog is on a raw diet however and is doing fabulous.

is it necessary to feed raw?
there are so many fors and againsts on various forums.
personally i do feed raw along with dry.

there is a huge choice for raw feeds now in the UK.
p@h sell the pet raw chicken mince which is ok
and i see natures menu are doing combinations of meats with veg in (reluctant to try that)

i feed mine on raw Ox cheek . it is all hand made and usually found for working dogs believe it or not.
it is excellent for breeding queens and boys alike.
i feel if you just feed exclusively dry,they are missing out ! maybe just me ( i do like my food )
different people will tell you different things.
pros and cons etc. if you feed raw then you will have to think about more regular worming,
there is a chance of bacterial infections etc (can get that from all foods)
mine love a chicken wing or 2 once in a while.
someone once said to me about cat food pouches hidden ingredients,that basically it is MaccyD's for cats!
made me laugh but looking in to it there are some many additives,crap and unknowns!
what was fed to cats before the chunks in gravy/jelly came on the market?? ( im not old enough to remember )

When we purchased our girl, the breeder was feeding all the kittens raw chicken necks to get them used to it and keep their teeth clean. I'm not sure *when* the breeder started this, but the first photo of Linden that she sent me showed her dragging a chicken neck across the floor at 5 weeks of age. They couldn't actually eat them at the time, but they had a fantastic time chewing - there would always be these sad looking skinny boney things at the end with teeth marks all along them.

Now she's completely addicted to chicken necks and has two for breakfast every morning!!! There's nothing left by the time she's done. Having said that, I have to be really picky about the ones that I buy. If they are too large she won't touch them - perhaps they are the hormone fed chickens and taste different?

Oh - and she likes them slightly warm... So I freeze the chicken necks and thaw them in hot water as required. That way they're at the right temperature for her once thawed out!

She's spoiled, but oh so worth it!!!
