She is correct in that freezing or cooking kills off the Taurine which a cat does need along with other essential vitamins, minerals etc. If you are feeding a total raw diet then you have to add these ingredients or buy a premix powder such as Instincts TC which is added to the raw and puts in all the goodness a cat needs to thrive. Taurine deficiency can cause all sorts of problems, blindness, heart issues, etc.

If you are feeding both raw and proprietry cat/kitten food, then you should be okay as long as the cat is getting enough. I have one lady who gives her boy meat chunks am and pm but throughout the day he has his dry kibble to eat so he is getting the additives needed. Zigsa, in another posting is now on a total raw diet but his owners are adding the Instincts TC so he is getting all his nutrients. Instincts TC can be googled and you can buy online and get it posted to you. Two sizes. If serious about raw feeding, go for the bulk buy.

Right ok, how long would a bulk buy last? Is RC dry food ok to give with raw until i get the Instinct?

That is interesting, about the taurine- as all my meat is frozen. Im adding a vitamin supplement called sa37- i mut compare it to the one mentioned above, to see which is best to carry on with!
So long as i can ensure they are getting enough taurine, i shall carry on with the raw feeding! He just loves it so much!
