Often vets are "encouraged" by certain manufacturers to recommend their foods and inevitably that means its the biggest companies with the most sophisticated marketing who will be most visible in the marketplace. I would like to think that no vet would ever recommend a food they knew to be poor quality but personally I wouldn't necessarily take their recommendation on foods as being the best informed advice available for a Bengal owner. At the end of the day, most vets are treating a wide range of animals (and breeds within each group) so it's unrealistic to think they'll know all the subtleties.
It's probably a fair assumption that the very cheapest foods are also the least healthy but there's a massive range of foods for cats now so provided you avoid the ones that are packed with fillers or grains, then I think it is a case of finding one they eat happily and are obviously thriving on. With Bengals you can tell a lot by the quality of their coat. When I switched mine from Hills dry to Orijen, the difference in their coats was dramatic. They're now on James Wellbeloved dry, along with Bozita wet and and their coat quality is still superb so I figure they're getting the nutrients they need.
