Nature's best is 60-70% meat I think, failing that Almo nature is a really source.

Both available from Zooplus, expensive but good for sensitive bellies and encouraging picky eaters!

I would be very careful giving raw to a pregnant queen, if RC dry is mainly for grazing and the raw is her main source of food be sure to add supplements to it.

Also, only the Applaws kitten variety is a fully balanced food....the adult varieties are just comlimentary foods.

I offered her a little Hills canned food yesterday and she wasn't interested at all. Then tried a tiny bit of Nature's Best and she loved it, nearly bit my fingers off! I think I'll give her increasing amounts of Nature's Best in her diet and see how it affects her stomach (usually the smallest amount of anything upsets her but seems ok so far) as am also worried about the lack of nutrition in raw food. I've also got some applaws kitten for her as this has lots of added goodies. Sound ok?

Last year someone on a yahoo group reported her birman kittens having rickets, according to the breeder this was caused through feeding them on a well known and already mentioned complimentary food, apparently now the kitten variety has been adjusted to be a fully balanced diet.....

I really don't understand the point of having a complimentary cat food, mostly it's just a very small statement on the side of the can that can easily be missed.....surely adding suppliments to make a complete food won't affect the taste (or profit margins) too much.

Maybe there's more to it!

Also more recently a case of "greenstick fractures" has been reported in a litter from feeding a raw diet....lack of calcium!

Raw feeding works...if you get it right!
