Hello all!!,


Me and my husband are looking for a new 4 legged love to add to our very active family. We have one beautiful 4 year old Siamese named briana who is just a joy to have she is very friendly, active, affectionate and talkative gets along with other animals (dogs). my husband and I dont have any children at the moment except for briana and travel alot, do to our line of work we are in the military. though we move alot we always bring her with us. Im wanted to get another cat and brought home another Siamese 2wks ago kept him for 1day and a half and had to give him back to his previous owner because all he did was walk around the house and wine which got pretty annoying. I swear briana kept looking at him like if you dont shut him up i will....LMBO....I came become very interested in the bengal cat breed and was wondering if this breed of cat would fit our family?

Well, Bengals can be VERY vocal (mine is one that is not, but many are) so when you say you were annoyed at the other kitty meowing, just be aware you might get that with a bengal. Look at several breeders, do plenty of research, ask a LOT of questions, if you can see the cats in person, and know that good quality bengals are not cheap.

As far as temperment, Bengals are curious, active, LOUD at meal times and just busy bodies. I have two daughters 3 and 4 (16 months apart) and I am a stay at home mommy during the week so we give our bengal PLENTY of attention. He is very laid back, likes to cuddle and is very patient with our girls. He is everything our breeder said he would be.

I have a vocal bengal and he LOVES the sound of his own voice! We always know where he is and he will happily sit on the stairs and wail to himself for no particular reason He has also got louder with age!! Not all bengals are this vocal, they all have their own personalities just like any animal, but as ladybug sugested I would reccomend doing lots of research before taking the plunge, it might also be worth considering homing an older bengal like an ex-breeder as you should be able to learn a lot more about their personalities whereas kittens can change as they grow up. I don't want to put you off and that said, bengal tend to be high energy and very entertaining cats, into everything and great fun but at the end of the day it's never a decision to be taken lightly Please also remember that it will take more than a couple of days for any cat to settle in a new home so you would need to be patient whatever new addition you go for.

We have two very quiet bengals but they still have their 5 minutes of shouting almost every day. Our kitten cried the entire first night we had him, it takes them time to settle in.
I've also quickly learned that bengals are a handful and will take much more than a day of patience to keep

Yes I also want to emphasize the point of PATIENCE when it comes to ANY kitten. I think I am in the minority that our bengal boy blended in immediately to our family, with little crying. THE MAJORITY of kittens DO cry and there is an adjustment period. Just like human babies, there is lots of crying, sleepless night, adjustments and trying times. You need to give it more than a day and a half. And as far as your other cat goes, you MIGHT want to keep the new bengal in a separate room and introduce them slowly. I did not do this with our kitten but he did awesome with our older cat possibly due to the demeanor of the older cat who is very laid back. Bengals are HIGH energy and take a LOT of time.

Yeah I think Mack is in the MINORITY when it comes to Bengals. He is quiet, calm, loves to cuddle, so NOT THE NORM He also blended in immediately and never cried, not even the first night home. SO PLEASE don't think yours will be like mine. HOWEVER, this just goes to show you Bengals are like humans, every one is different, but MOST Bengals are vocal, and even mine is very curious, follows me everywhere and MUST be center of attention at all times. They take a LOT of time, patience, but they bless you with their charm, beauty, intelligence and their "Bengalness"
