While i was googleing them on the internet, i stubbled upon someone with the same questions i believe it was on yahoo and they said that these cats are good for single people that stay at home alot, because they become attached to only one member of the family....

My daughters were both very small when I started breeding Bengals. I have 9 pet Bengals here, ranging from 3 years old to nearly 13 years old. Each Bengal is as loving, sociable and friendly as the next one.

In my experience, Bengals (like any other cat), actually seem to tolerate being picked up by younger humans more, as they are not as tall as adults and therefore the cats don’t feel as threatened by being held higher by a human while not being in control. It used to be a common sight here seeing my youngest daughter give the Bengals their daily piggy back rides or ‘horsey rides,’ with paws wrapped tightly around her neck and accompanied by a loud buzz of purring and human giggles

I think that any cat will interact perfectly with families - with or without children - if that kitten/cat has received ample socialisation, love and care from the breeder.

In my house no matter how young or old you are, you can be guaranteed to be covered in a cuddly Bengal blanket before your bottom even has a chance to hit the seat cushion

HI! I just thought i'd add some more evidence to this thread.

I have a 7month old bengal who came to us when he was about 4months old. I also have a 3 and a half year old son and a 6 year old dog. It took the cat two days to bond with my dog and then with my son. I also should add that the breeder doesn't have small children or dogs.

Theo, my cat, adores my son and has even started sleeping in my son's bed during the day. My son is constantly chasing the cat, and pulling his tail and he picks him up in the most ackward ways, yet the cat keeps going to him. So I must disagree that they are not good with kids, they must be socialized is all. They also should be supervised with the cat for the cat's protection, until the child knows how to treat a cat.

My OH and I do get affection from the cat but first and foremost, the dog gets the most. So I must say that they do bond with one family member for us it was our dog.

As far as keeping the cat amused, it sounds like you have enough people in your household to keep it occupied.

I have 2 bengals who are nearly 10 months old & an 8 year old daughter...

When I brought them home as 13 weeks old kittens I kept them in a seperate room for them to adjust to the new environment.. After couple of days of them only seeing me, I would allow my daughter (then 7) to go into the room and just sit on the floor quietly for a few minutes to gauge their reaction. She was really good to be fair, and it was amazing how quickly they took to her..

Now they are two energetic, noisy individuals who have really enriched our lives

As long as both you & your children understand that in the beginning the kitten will need their own space, lots of time & patience from you all as they adjust to life away from their mum, siblings & familiar surroundings I am sure you will get on just fine...

Well socialised & happy bengals are great family pets... And very entertaining
