My OH and I have been keeping our eye out for an ex-breeding queen to offer a home to. Anyway, we lost faith and I offered our home to two girls who had been stuck with an irresponsible owner, who had let them breed with whoever, between them they have had about 5 litters.

They came to us at the beginning of the week, and they were spayed yesterday.

this is where we are getting complicated now.

I have had an email from a lady who is close by with a 4 yr old bengal to rehome. the reason she is being rehomed is that the other cats are bullying her. Not 100% she is a breeding queen though.

The girls I have already are used to sharing with 9 other cats, and 3 dogs so I know they can get on with other animals.

OH REALLY wants this bengal, but I am not too sure she will fit in with the two we have now.

Help? advice?

Hi and welcome. Nobody can ever say for certain whether cats will get on or not - as BenLinz says, there are lots of threads on here from people thinking their cats are never going to bond. Usually there's another thread a couple of weeks later showing the cats happily cuddled up together but it doesn't always work out like that. If the two girls you've just taken in are very laid back, then they may not have a problem with the Bengal but they may also be so well bonded together that they might not like an "intruder". It's a really hard one to judge and I guess you won't know unless you try but you don't really want to make the Bengal any more stressed.

I think you need to have a very honest discussion with the owner and work out whether this Bengal really needs to be a solo cat or whether it's just something about the circumstances in her current place that is causing the bullying.

The cats I have are very laid back, they were dominant over food earlier on in the week, but I think that was more due to the conditions they were kept in in their previous home, than their personalities. Now they know they have a regular, individual food they are much happier. they were living with 9 0ther cats and 3 dogs, so there must have been much competition over food. Never seen such skinny cats, and I would be mortified if I had to hand them over in the condition they have come to me in.

I have emailed the lady concerned, explaining the situation, left my number and suggested a trial period, to see how the cats get on initially.

We live in a 3 bed old build semi, so I would think that even if they didn't get on they could avoid each other, am I being daft?
