A few questions about adopting retired adult Bengals

I see, it's just that they are still kittens themselves that young. It just doesn't seem right but you all know what your doing I guess.

the girls tell you what they need kim. some of them mature very early & call frantically until mated. ideally you let a girl have her first mating at around a year old but nature doesn't always play be the rules.

As I have already mentioned on here, I have had a queen in the past who called constantly from the age of 4 months; so much so that she ended up suffering from hormonal alopecia, which was brought on through the stress of being in call for such a considerable amount of time.
My vet agreed that it would be kinder to put her to stud, despite her being less than 10 months old. She was a very healthy size and weight, and she subsequently produced a very healthy litter of 7 kittens.

I think that experienced breeders use their knowledge and common sense before deciding whether it is in the best interests of the queen as to whether to put her to stud at a certain age. There are no hard and fast rules. Every cat is different, and you have to factor in the health of the queen and other issues before making that decision.

Experienced breeders shouldn’t be questioned on the ‘right’ or 'wrong’ age, when deciding to mate their cats, especially if the reasons are in the best interests of that cat’s health and well being.

It's difficult to know because you're not seeing them in a "normal" environment and they've probably not had a chance to settle into a family home. Some cats are more shy than others and you may find they don't like strangers but with time and patience you should find that they warm up to you. Dolly, my Bengal is very sociable and always comes to greet visitors. Two of my moggies disappear whenever anyone else is in the house but they're real cuddlebugs with me so I'm happy :lol:

Did you find out if the 2 girls get on well together? They'll probably get confidence from each other if that's the case and if one is a little more confident, the other may follow her lead.

I only plan on adopting one of them currently. Maybe another kitten down the road, but one for now.
