I am new to Bengals and looking to get my first. I have been talking to a local breeder about her Bengals and this is what she has available right now. I am not planning to show or breed, just looking for a companion. I know really know nothing about Bengals when it comes to how they are supposed to look. I have read a lot about them and their personalities but I am still confused as far as their markings go. How do these kittens look? The last kitten has a bulleyes, right? From what I have read, bullseyes are a big no no when it comes to Bengals. Does that make them any less of a Bengal?

I think this is a different kitten than above, but she sent this photos saying it was her?

In the last 2 pictures it looks like the same kitten to me - just comparing the lighter areas. Sue sends me lots of pictures of my kitten to be and he looks so different sometimes.

I think the marble looks lovely but I think the boy we lost Indy was a bit of a rougue with his pattern and personality. If you want a show cat the pattern can be important but otherwise why worry. It's what you like that counts.

I would visit the breeder. Ask lots of questions. See the parent cats. Make sure all are looking healthy and well. Check the breeders credentials, like can she let you talk to anyone who has previously homed? Look at the kittens pedigree. Is there lots of inbreeding?

Don't be pushed into paying a deposit if your unsure just say you like them all and need a few days to think about it.

I got Indy from what I consider to be a hobby breeder. They had a queen the friend had a stud. They took turns with the kittens. I didn't see parents. I'm not even fully sure the kittens lived in that house and I think the poor queen may have been onto her next brood already.

I never regret getting Indy but he died young!

I think somewhere on here is a very good sticky about buying a Bengal.

The marble kitten does not look to have a bullseye. To explain on her side patterning the big ring of colour should have a horizontal flow (from head to tail) not a circular look to it as the classic tabby. The picture of the kitten side view looks to have a horizontal flow.

If you are looking for a pet, it does not really matter, go for the personality and the one you feel you are bonding with.

Kate raised some valid points. Dont be pressured; walk away if you are unsure.

Thanks for your help! I think I have read every information website on Bengals that's currently on the web but still do not have the trained eye for how Bengals should look. I just think they are all beautiful and want to take them all home with me! Since I just want a Bengal as a companion, it really will come down to personality for me. Anyway I am hoping to go visit these kittens soon and from there I am sure my decision will be much easier.

wait til you see some in the flesh...you'll have a much better idea then of how different they are to ordinary cats

sometimes it's hard to understand just from pictures...i remember how amazed i was when i actually met my first bengal!

Well I ended up bringing her home. I posted lots of pictures in the gallery. I think I am going to name her Safari. I really like the name Dior but she responded to Safari best.

Safari is a lovely name. She is completely adorable, i have seen the pix and she is amazing.
