I am looking to visit a home with a Bengal who likes to shower with their owner daily. My husband has mild cat-dander allergies and we would love to visit to see how my husband's allergy response is. We live in Central VA area (USA). Hoping to connect with someone.

Cats pretty much bathe themselves. When you read about a bengal jumping in the shower with you, it just means that it doesn't mind getting wet. It doesn't mean it needs a shampoo.

The issue here is that your husband is allergic to cats. That can mean a bengal or even a sphinx. You want to visit a breeder and see if your husband suffers a reaction. There may be none at the breeders, however, once you get a cat home, there could be a trigger. A cattery is going to be super clean, especially if they know they are having a visitor. Sniffing a cat may not trigger, but dander in the air may.

Please also bear in mind that cat allergies are not just to dander but to the proteins that cats secrete in their saliva. Some people with cat allergies regularly wash down their baseboards and walls to remove these proteins. (It also removes that cat's scent makers so they start the process over again.)

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic cat. The one cat that was marketed this way turned out to be a scam by an international con artist. Some breeds, however, can cause less of a reaction than others, it depends on the human involved. But given that Bengals are generally large cats, that would increase the amount of dander and proteins to deal with.
