I've been waiting for years to get a Bengal since they're not available here in Saudi Arabia. At last I'm buying one female kitten but waiting for it to finish it's 12 weeks before separating it from its mom... due in mid April.

I've read extensively about Bengals, but feel free to advise.

My main three questions:
1) I'm single and I live alone in a big apartment. Is it ok to leave the cat alone all day while I'm at work? Or must I get a male Bengal cat to entertain mine while I'm away?

2) If I get away on a business trip for few days, can I leave it at home alone or better leave it at a friend's house?

(Please note in all cases, I have bought an auto feeder and a gravity waterer)

3) Anybody successfully trained their Bengal kitten to use the toilet? I ordered the Citikitty toilet training kit, but not sure at what age I can start training the kitten to use it.

Congratulations on your upcoming baby! Bengal kittens especially have a ton of energy! Would it be okay to leave the kitten alone while you are at work. Only if you play with the kitten while you are home and wear the poor little thing out so all it wants to do is sleep! You can purchase a wi-fi camera and be able to watch your kitten through your phone or computer at work.

But, as for going away for more than 10 hours, it is important that you have someone check in on the kitten or have someone look after it at all times. Kittens can get into trouble and find themselves in situations they can't get out of. When you are not home, I would make sure your kitten is limited to the areas it can access in your home. Only because they can find a hole anywhere and get through it. One member thought her kitten had gotten out through a window, then heard it crying behind the kitchen cabinets. One can't watch their kitties 24/7. If you are able to take a few days off work to observe and bond with your baby, that would be great.

There are many bengals trained to use a toilet. The thing is to keep a kitten from ending up IN the toilet and not being able to get back out and, thus, drown! Personally, I prefer having a litter box.

Over the past week, I've watched every single YT video concerning Bengal and many concerning cats in general. I raised few cats in the past though, but I know Bengals are different. I spent a lot of money online too in the past few days, and still, buying my kitten all essentials, accessories and Bengal-proofing the house. I even registered two nearby vets in case.

Yes I plan to spend the first few days with her at home before resuming work. And I plan to train her as per what I learned from Robert Dollwet too.

I'm happy to be part of this forum, and excited counting down till the day I receive my kitten.

Cats are most relaxed on their own turf, because they have established scent markers, so my vote is for having a pet sitter come to your place to care for kitty whenever possible. I had to recently board my cats on several separate days, and it was only the third time around that they really began to relax, there was a lot of stress for them.

I wouldn't leave a kitten home alone for a few days. They have to eat frequently and need fresh food. I am out of the house about 10 hours a day for work and would feed mine twice before leaving and have dry food available on a timer twice during the day and provide 2 more small meals in the evening after I was home. I could not leave them alone to go out after work and still would not at three years old. It would just not be fair to them, they are at home waiting for me and their routine. A couple of times I needed to go out on a Friday evening and wound up taking the day off from work so they would not be left alone for so long. I try to go out on a Saturday evening after I have been home with them all day or invite friends to come over to my house. In the three years I have had them, I only left them at home overnight one time. I just don't want to stress them out.
