Raiden's previous owner had never registered him. When I asked the previous owner if he knew what F generation Raiden was, he ran inside his house and came back with the blue TICA registration paper. He said it might be on there. I took it home and realized it was blank except for the information the breeder had filled in. I contacted TICA and asked if I could still register a 6-year old bengal and the said "of course." So, I filled out the papers and sent them in and requested a 5-generation pedigree (additional cost). That's when I became fascinated with the generations and completed a pedigree on Raiden going back to ALL the ALCs. It took me three months and I have since discovered in doing my database, there is an mistake that I need to go back and fix at some point, however it does not change the generation -- Raiden is an F9. Some people want to know the ALC that is he shortest link to their kitty! I just gave Sarah hers, and (thankfully), they aren't Centerwall's.
Almost all breeders will withhold papers until the kitty has been fixed, which is why a lot of breeders take care of fixing the kitties before they ever leave. So much easier on the new owner and doesn't interfere with getting the registration papers. They simply mean you have a purebred bengal.
