I've been on this forum for a while and had so much helpful advice from members about getting Bengal kittens.

Sadly, it's still not a good time to get any kittens but definitely something I have on my my wishlist

I have my reasons for not getting any kittens just yet but I do have my eye on a breeder that I once went to see, actually two breeders who are very reputable. I still have my budgies and it wouldn't be fair to bring kittens, not fair, I mean it would be fatal!!
My apartment is way too small and I want to have indoor cats (sorry to anyone who doesn't agree with that but it's a personal decision).

Now coming to my question: Would getting a kitten from different litters matter in terms of bonding?

Me and my husband want to choose a kitten each. I would ideally like a kitten brown with rosettes but personality is far more important to me. I might end up with a silver which I quite like as well!
The important thing is that we each get to choose a kitten that we like but I am wondering what would happen if we chose a kitten each from a different litter?

Would they be friends already and not feel so lonely without their siblings if they came from the same household? I have read that kittens from the same litter will have a very strong bond.

We both definitely what a Bengal kitten, so we will not be going with a different breed but might end up with kittens that we like from different litters hopefully from the same house if they are breeding more than one pair.

I am not too worried right now as it will probably be another few years or more until we get our Bengals. I have to say, although it aches not to have a kitty, I am thoroughly enjoying reading on here and learning so much. It is all incredibly valuable and the support from the members on here is amazing. I know that in future if I ever have a problem, you all will be there to help

Kittens from different litters should also become fast friends!

While kitties from the same litter are usually already bonded, kittens from different litters can also bond easily, even more so if they came from the same breeder and the kittens were allowed to roam the house and be together. AT 12 weeks, the kittens may hiss and growl at each other, but they should get along pretty well. I'm beginning to think that as much as you and your husband want bengals, you are not going to be waiting very long to get them.

Babies and bengals can get along just fine. However, a new baby brings cries and new smells and sometimes the kitties don't quite understand. And small children around cats -- they do not understand how to be gentle with the cats, although I think it's easier if the kitties are older rather than kittens. Personally, I'd do the cats first and then the kids, but that's just me. It's wonderful you have goals and a timeline. Just know that things can change down the road ... life happens. Be prepared for anything and everything.

You will figure it all out when the time comes! There's really no sense in worrying about things right now. When the time gets closer to your actually picking your kitties, then you can really go to down. Just make sure you are completely catified with everything a kitty needs. Choosing and buying them furniture and toys is as much fun as choosing and buying for babies! You are going to have a lot of fun.

I don't know how old you are, but when you get to be my age (old), the time flies very quickly! I take Raiden out for daily walks and he loves them. Now that it's so hot out, he will usually just find a spot in the shade and lay down, but when the weather is great, we walk two blocks up to the park on the corner. Lots of room for him to walk around up there. I think even waiting two to three years when you are this excited is going to be difficult! The more you read, the more you look, the more excited you and your husband become over this. It's difficult to be patient when there is something you want so badly.

Feeding a raw diet is a big discussion here -- I'm sure you found the topic in the Nutrition section of the forum. If you find a breeder feeding raw, it's fairly easy to continue the diet.

Read up on birds and budgies in the same household. Many cat owners have birds as well. Birds are kept in a cage 99% of the time and as long as the cats are in another room where they can't get to the birds when they are out of the cage, things should be okay. Seriously, waiting up to 13 more years for a bengal? It's the same with fish tanks. Cats are fascinated by fish and a few cats have taken a tumble into a tank, but many people also have cats and fish.

And Raiden does not keep me young. He wears me out. It's like caring for a 3-year old great grandchild. My energy left me decades ago.

The only problem with getting two kittens from different litters is the risk of infection. Kittens develop a tolerance to their own bugs and taking kittens from two different catteries may introduce kittens to bugs they are not accustomed too and hence it would be advisable to keep them separated for at least two weeks quarantine before allowing them to intermingle.
