I don't know a lot about birds. We have six feeders outside that feed the menagerie of birds in our backyard and all I know is the poop all over the place! I don't know anyone who lets their birds fly freely around the house. My mother loved birds and we had parakeets when I was a girl. We'd take it out of the cage and hold it, but it spent most of its time in the cage. It sounds to me as if your bengals are going to happen way down the line.

I think it's wonderful that you and your husband are such bird and animal lovers! Just sad that most cats and birds cannot get along okay. Thanks for explaining about the poop from budgies! I was just a little girl when we had parakeets and I don't remember much about them at all. I do hope you eventually can get your kitties! And by then, you may actually find both types of bengals from one breeder.

I'm thinking when the time comes, you may find a breeder who offers rosetted bengals and snow bengals and you can get your kitties from at least the same breeder! Raiden wasn't really a choice for me. He found me! He belonged to a neighbor and when a stray I was feeding disappeared, Raiden would show up to eat the food I was still putting out (so would other neighborhood cats). Raiden was allowed to roam free and kept getting into cat fights, leading to expensive vet visits for the owner. He wanted to rehome Raiden and I took him because I cared about him keeping the rest of his nine lives. We built a large enclosure on our deck that he can access 24/7 and he gets twice a day walks on a leash. He's not 100% happy because he wants to run free, but to keep him safe, it's a decision I had to make. I knew nothing about a bengal cat -- and had I known, I'm not sure I would have taken him. Raiden is the sweetest kitty and I love him to death. He tries my patience at times, is very vocal most of the time, but I've made a commitment to give him a loving, happy home for the rest of his life.

My neighbors are used to seeing me and Raiden out. We normally don't go farther than two blocks up to the park and many times it's less than that. My husband thinks I'm crazy! But it doesn't bother me. Raiden loves walking -- it's not like I'm having to drag him. He leads and I follow. All of my previous cats have been indoor/outdoor cats and most all disappeared. Only two were put to sleep due to illnesses.

Things changed when my last stray vanished. He was not an indoor kitty, but he was the most affectionate cat I'd ever had. He loved me to death and showed it with kitty hugs and kisses daily. Spent months looking for him, sending out flyers and postcards. Then I got Raiden and everything I'd learned about missing cats, it was a no brainer to keep him inside and safe and sound.

Now when I read of a cat who has gone missing, it breaks my heart. It's one thing for a cat to escape, but so many choose to let their cats roam free and then they freak out when the cat doesn't return! A gal in California (a state known for coyotes) had her bengal escape -- it's been a week now. She decided to leave her door open in case the kitty returned, only to have her other cat go out the door and is also missing! How heart wrenching is that?

And I believe I've read that Australia wants to ban all cats from going outdoors. That seems to be a continent where owners allow their cats, even bengals, to roam free.

If they came from the same breeder and the kittens were allowed to roam the house and be together.

I don't know how many years I have waited for a bengal, I fell in love with the breed when I was a child. It was only when I started working part time and then I lost my amazing collie dog, I couldn't bare another dog so hubby said how about a kitten. My answer a bengal and nothing else would do! I was 30 so over 10 years of waiting She was worth the wait though and everything and more.

We had an older moggie when our daughter was born and we introduced the kitten when my daughter was 14 months. I have to say introducing the kitten was easier, my moggie is so laid back but he was sooo scared and it took him a couple of months to even come into the same room as her. That said it did work eventually. However my daughter was then jealous of the kitten when we introduced her so we had to work through that so it is swings and roundabouts!

This is very similar story like mine :)
We have two brothers too. And in the forst months they cried/called each other when one got lost the other in the flat :)
