That is absolutely a bengal (only cat out there with rosettes, and you can clearly see those). The previous owner clearly wasn't in the right situation to be getting a cat, and especially not a bengal. However, if it is healthy and happy I don't see a downside to adoption (though I'd try to get the price down a bit because it's highly unlikely the woman who rescued the cat has spent anywhere near that much at the vet for this cat).

As for the declawing and all that... the majority of people in the US declaw their cats these days and while most (maybe all) here believe it to be inhumane for good reason, it is a common practice. While biting and litter box issues are sometimes seen with declawed cats, most never have any negative long-term consequences from being declawed according to multiple vets I've talked to (you know, aside from cutting off the kitties toes).

Could you link the Craigslist ad? I've definitely seen bengal scams on craigslist, but this seems far more legit.

I promise to everyone that replied to my post that I took all you input seriously. I visited the lady and the cat (marco) on the way home from work tonight. I have never been so disgusted by the conditions that a animal or human lived in. The house was maybe 700 square with at least 10 cats it was a mix of domestic and Bengal. The smell was so bad it felt like I was punched in the face when I walked in. I didn't know how to react it was so bad. I spoke with here for a bit and she said let me get Marco. She went in a small room and carried him out. His eyes were squinting from the smell as we're mine. I did the only thing i thought was right. I handed here 425 and put Marco in my carier and left. On the way home we stopped at the 24 hour vets office. The vet checked him out and he is in good health visually. They took blood to make sure everything else checks out and I will know in a few days. We have been home for a few hours and I have to say this is going to be a amazing pet. I opened the carrier and he hasn't skipped a beat. Has been glued to my side. Ate used the litter box talked up a storm and rolled around like a kitten! Eyes are big and bright! I am guessing he was picked up from the foster home which was much more cleaner then the house I got him. Tomorrow I will be calling animal control. I am on my cell so can't post pictures but will tomorrow when I get on my work desktop. Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense between being on cell and very aggravated it is a little difficult.

Just had time for a few quick pictures this morning. Last night went very well. He acts like he has lived there for years.

Looks like you did the right thing by "rescuing" Marco from the rescue!

Just one thing... I know you mean well, but calling animal control is NOT a good move for the cats. That would mean an instant death sentence for all the cats. Animal Control is not in the business of saving animals. They would most likely all be killed in a gas chamber. I am actively involved in my area in getting people educated in how cities run their Animal Control and the cruelty behind the closed doors - all funded by our tax dollars.

If you really feel like you have to do something, maybe call the Humane Society or another cat rescue instead?

This is a wonderful story! I applaud your decision to take him immediately, it is very commendable. It sounds like he was just waiting for the right person and now he is happy.

Congrats on your new buddy! He looks so relaxed in your home, I am glad all is going well. I am against declawing as are most people here but I you do happen to run into any problems that it has caused we can all help you manage and get through it!!

As far as the ex owner it is not just her fault for declawing!! IMO the breeder is just as much to blame! All new cat owners should be made aware of what declawing actually is, I certainly didn't know until I helped with the procedure at the vet I worked at. Also most responsible breeders make you sign a contract stating you will not have your pet declawed and if you do it makes their health contract null and void.

Thanks all for your support. Marco was a little groggy the next day because of his boster shot but was much better last night. Everything seems to be going great so far. He is using his litter box and eating. He has explored every each of the place and made himself right at home. Last night he showed a little of his crazy side. Played most of the night with his toys! He is very vocal to the point he lets you know how he wants to be petted lol. Does anyone bath thier cat? I was just going to use the pet wipes but was thinking of getting him gromed to make sure he has no fleas. I combed him and havent seen any signs so its just a percation. Its probably me but I still smell the womans house I got him from on him lol.
