Hello everyone I'm new here, and currently sharing my home with a single queen who i got as a "Bengal". but i'm starting to have doubts now that she has grown up (currently 8 months old) Oh, she surely has the bengal's playfulness and activity level (she chases our family whippet and had destroyed three window screens already lol), but her looks are giving me doubts. i feel that she is a bit too small and fine to be a bengal, not to mention the more strips-to-spots ratio. any thoughts on her? i got her from my neighbor 6 months ago who gave her to us as a "Bengal" he could not care for anymore. He got her as an impulse purchase as a gift to his wife, whom did not appreciate this beautiful cat as much as he thought she will. We just want to know what the experts think (if she is a bengal, bengal cross or a "moggie"), just so that we can label her right lol Oh! we love her as who she is, and finding her identity would not change that of course, we will be spaying her if she really turns out to be a cross. thank you so much in advance!

Did your neighbour give you registration papers with her to prove 100% she is a Bengal? In order to breed you would need to have these and her be on the active register to be able to register any kittens. Also you would need them to be able to take her to stud to mate her to another Bengal. If you don't have these then there is no proof and you should spay her. Theres alot of Bengal cross kittens around in the freeads and it wouldn't be right imo to add to that.

It sounds to me though you are going to do the right thing, which is great. Im sure she is a lovely pet

A cat should not be bred unless it is registered as a breeding cat, is health screened, and is a fine example of the breed according the breed standard. It would be unethical for you to breed this cat, please just enjoy her as a lovely pet.

Without papers she is not a bengal. She needs to be spayed as soon as possible to prevent complications such as pyometria and the possibility of starting to spray around the house which once started is very difficult to stop.

Hi I cant add much more than above, if you had papers then you would know her history, as you dont then just love her for what she is But please do not breed her, many great breeders of bengals with papers and health tests have given up due to the market being flooded, I have recently given up aswell, people are giving away for FREE registered health tested pure breed paper bengals.
So if she isnt you will neuter her? Whats the point in breeding her anyway? Millions of moglets about, she isnt a bengal, there I said it, She is a lovely moggie with lovely big ears like my moggie boy so please neuter her for her sake aswell as yours

While she is a cute kitten and probably has a great personality. I have to agree with Taylorbaby, I don’t think she is pure bred and even if she is I don't think she has the traits responsible breeders look for while trying to improve the Bengal breed. I think you should have her spayed and enjoy her as a beautiful pet! Breeding and caring for kittens is very time consuming, expensive, and should be done by someone with a lot of experience and looking to improve the blood lines in the breed of cat they truly love.
